Hey everybody! We've decided to change the name of our music podcast MinnTrax, it's now called CrossFade but can be found in the same feed.  https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/minntrax/id1501267072

On this Friday's episode, the guest is music expert Emily Reese and we'll be reviewing Kate Bush's album Hounds of Love and Björk's Utopia. You’re welcome to listen to the albums ahead of time!

On every episode of CrossFade, we want to involve the Patreon community as much as possible. So please leave a question or discussion topic below and we’ll read some of our favorites on the episode! Also, please leave a link to your current favorite song or a song you think is worth dissecting and we’ll include it in the community playlist on Spotify.

We’ll be pulling questions on Wednesday afternoon. Thanks everybody! And just a reminder: CrossFade won’t be on YouTube or in the Patreon exclusive feed, it’s a stand alone podcast feed that you’ll need to subscribe to.

CrossFade is our music podcast hosted by Matt Helgeson and produced by Jason Dafnis where a guest has Helgeson review one of their favorite albums and vice versa. You can subscribe to CrossFade on your favorite podcast app, new episodes are released every other Friday.

On the topic of bjork, I loved her collaboration with the dirty projectors. Both of these songs are good in their own way so please choose 1 :) https://open.spotify.com/track/3e2M3Idk1YxmDvtvvRzReK?si=zImVhmuxTjaOzziTWU4YfQ https://open.spotify.com/track/6pn7hljG8QY8aSvfjdyu7I?si=5NxcPY7qT-aDexSzd_7HuA

Hey there crossfaders, Remember bars? Well let's pretend we're in one having a good time feeling nice. Now, you walk up the the Jukebox, what song you playing to get the whole place jamming out with you? My friends and I would always play Bohemian Rhapsody and had the other patrons sing along.

Since high school I’ve loved listening to live versions of video game orchestral music. It started with the “greatest video game music” albums but has since slid over to the 8-Bit Big Band. I like how they’re able to make each rendition their own and keep it fresh. What do you think is one commonality that makes (specifically) live-centric bands stand out and what is your favorite live performance of any video-game based piece or song? Thanks gang!

In the spirit of the new name, what is a really memorable crossfades? Are crossfades meant to be invisible or to be celebrated? Song: With A Little Help from My Friends by The Beatles

What's the strangest record/CD/album in your collection? Not necessarily the rarest, just the weirdest piece of recorded sound you own.

One of my favorites from them. I was glad they played it when I saw them at the Triple Rock in Minneapolis – the only show I caught there before they shut down in 2017

I grew up across the bridge from where they started. To think I could have seen those basement shows.

I have a Masters Of The Universe 45 that played along to a kids book. Also, "The Heart-Warming Tenderness Of Jim Nabors".

My recommendation is this song by Russian avant-garde pop group Kolibri from the early '90s. I would write out the transliteration of the song title, but your head would explode before you even began to imagine how it is pronounced. Just kidding, it is called Nye Ryadom (roll that "R", I know you can do it Jason!) Like Kate Bush and Bjork, I feel they are al connected by some light theatrical elements inherent in the music, though the singers in Kolibri are admittedly much less talented vocalists. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alswjh_0498
