Matt, how was your experience with Hamilton? Song: Roman's Revenge by Nicki Minaj

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=smv8rkXkvYc Hello Matt, Jason, and Mike! As I have gotten older I have come to appreciate purely instrumental music more sometimes even over songs with lyrics. My question is do you enjoy pure instrumental music or do you still prefer lyrical music? My suggestion for the community playlist is from a fantastic instrumental band Naxatras.

I was wondering if you folks had any "gateway" songs or bands. Songs/bands that got you into a genre of music you previously didn't really listen to. My for instance being 'Wait So Long', by Trampled by Turtles. I hadn't really cared for/explored bluegrass, I was mostly into heavier rock/punk. 'Wait So Long' being a fast paced, almost punk-like bluegrass tune, and I got absolutely hooked on that song. From there, I checked out the rest of their stuff, and eventually became a fan of bluegrass in general.

Hey y'all! My personal favorite album of all time is Jeff Buckley's Grace. I would absolutely love for y'all to cover that album on a future episode of MinnTrax. My favorite song from that album is probably, "Last Goodbye" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEPnMYLvNAQ&list=PLnif9Rfb5AdkH5_L5HG3HAwGPGLN_F0rx&index=3 Thanks! Queso

For a song suggestion: "Beneath the Piano" by The Devil Makes Three. https://youtu.be/vmFpS84nMQo If anyone else listens to The Devil Makes Three, how do you describe their music to others? Modern take on old timey americana?

Interesting fusion of genres, reminds me in a way of linkin park https://youtu.be/jakpo7tj7Qw

Have you had any instances of going to a concert with an opening band that you've never heard of, and walked away more blown away by the opener than the headliner? I ask because I went to go see the band Wintersun awhile ago and Ne Obliviscarus, an Australian band I had never heard of was the opener. I was blown away by the mix of clean and guttural vocals and the melodic elements backed by a violin being interwoven into some pretty brutal metal. I immediately went to their merch booth after the set and bought their discography. On a related note, my suggestion for a song for this episode is Ne Obliviscarus' "and plague flowers the kaleidoscope". It's not a short song, but it takes you on one hell of a worthwhile journey, and is actually the song they played during their live set that convinced me I needed to buy their entire discography. Can't recommend it enough. https://youtu.be/aMorAdnCixg

Great song choice glad you discovered Ne Obliviscarus. Urn is one of my favorite metal albums of all time.

Just a thought, but I feel like the release of the Beastie Boys Story on Apple Tv on the 24th of April, going back to Licence to Ill maybe even with a pair up with Paul's Boutique would be stupendous and fitting.

Its so good! I'm really hoping for a chance to see them again after this global lock down ends.

I discovered Plini this way when they opened for Animals as Leaders. I can't say I like one more than the other but Plini is definitely a better live player than Tosin Abasi

Crayter

Plini is great too, haven't had the opportunity to see them live yet though.

I should also say though, I do really like Wintersun, its not like they weren't great live, I just kinda already knew what I was getting with Wintersun.

I love the songwriting and virtuosity of Brewer on bass in this song. He shows off so many techniques and genres in under 3 minutes. It literally slaps https://play.google.com/music/m/Tkiejeylok24aneyx53xfdjpx54?t=Degenerate_-_Evan_Brewer What's your favorite instrument?
