In case you missed the news, Matt Helgeson (former host of The Game Informer Show) is hosting a new podcast on the MinnMax podcast network called MinnTrax! It's a dueling album review show about expanding your musical horizons, and the first episode is now live!

The podcast is in a stand-alone feed, so please subscribe to it on your favorite podcast app and check it out! If you enjoy the episode, please leave a review as well! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/minntrax/id1501267072

MinnTrax will air every other Friday and feature a community feedback/questions segment AND our Community Song Of The Week pulled from Patreon! So if you leave a song when we ask for MinnTrax feedback on Patreon, we'll include it in this updated community MinnTrax playlist on Spotify!  https://spoti.fi/3aRRgox

The first episode of the podcast is about Nas' Illmatic and James Brown's Love, Power, Peace. Unlike all other MinnMax media, MinnTrax is not censored... so brace yourself for some mature language. If you want to catch up on the albums before listening to our reviews, check out the links below!

Correction: around 24:35 Matt mentioned underground rapper "Kenny Woods" though he meant to say Billy Woods, who in fact collaborated with produced Kenny Segal on the excellent album "Hiding Places". Loved this ep (still listening through it) and looking forward to future eps!

Listening to this first official episode while playing some Minecraft...PURE bliss. Really looking forward to more episodes in the future, this was so great. Just wanted to give a mention to the album cover for Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures, that one is super iconic. I'd really like to hear you guys discuss their Closer album in some future episode, that would be a very interesting listen.

Hey, loved the first episode, looking forward to listening to more. One thing I'm surprised you didn't talk about as far as what Nas has done recently is his very currently relevant namesake, Lil Nas X (who took his name as an homage to Nas). They even performed a song together at the Grammy's recently. As far as songs to listen to, it might be cool to listen to one by Thank You Scientist. I'm a big prog rock fan, and in my opinion they're the best prog band currently making music. They even have a weird MinnMax connection: I know you guys mentioned Dan Rycker's wife Bianca, so maybe you know this (and maybe I'd be stepping on her toes on for a future episode of the pod), but their guitarist, Tom Monda, is Dan's brother-in-law through Bianca I think, and the both of them are in the music video for their cover of "Party All the Time". I'd recommend listening to FXMLDR (pronounced Fox Mulder), as it's pretty listenable and it'll give you a good feel of their stuff.
