We've had another fun week here at MinnMax, here's a rundown of everything that happened...

Sweet Toys for Sick Kids Charity
We've raised over $1,500 so far to buy toys and games for kids stuck in the hospital over the holidays! I spoke with the best person at the hospital and she gave a very helpful rundown of what they need and don't need for the pediatric department, so I can't wait to go on a shopping spree with the community. https://www.gofundme.com/f/sweet-toys-for-sick-kids-from-minnmax

MinnMax's First Community Meetup is on Monday
Remember that on Monday, December 9th at 8pm we're holding MinnMax's first community meetup at Bauhaus Brew Labs in NE Minneapolis. You don't need to be a Patreon supporter to swing by, so please bring a friend or two. If you bring a new (but unwrapped) toy to donate for Sweet Toys for Sick Kids, you can get a free beer or two. Also, I've asked if we can stream the meetup for folks outside of Minnesota but haven't heard back yet. Since it's not a private event, this might be tricky... we'll take lots of photos for y'all! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/minnmax-communitys-holiday-meetuptoy-drive-tickets-83907316041

MinnFAQs - Community Meetup, GOTY Poll, Visiting NetherRealm Commentary
If you're a $20 supporter on Patreon, you can join us every Monday at noon Central for a Q&A stream called MinnFAQs. $5 supporters get access to the audio version on Tuesday morning. On the latest episode, we tried doing our first commentary track for a Game Informer video on YouTube. Let us know if you want us to try more commentary tracks in the future! https://www.patreon.com/minnmax

The Great GOTY Hunt - Ape Out
The Great GOTY Hunt continued this week as our $10 supporters on Patreon voted for us to stream Ape Out over Apex Legends, Outer Wilds, and Devil May Cry 5. We have a lovely community. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opih9l_iAhU

The MinnMax Show - The Greatest Games Of The Decade
After kicking around several ideas of what games to cover this week on the podcast, we decided to eat the biggest meal possible by running down our favorite games from the last decade. We also explain our plans for 2019's game of the year coverage. This was a fun episode, please tell a friend!

Our Top 10 Games - 2010-2018
As a text companion to The MinnMax Show podcast, we also posted our full lists of Top 10 games for each year this decade... it's a doozy and Suriel is wrong. https://www.patreon.com/posts/32118222

Introducing The "Wall Of Heroes" Patreon Tier
This week we reinvented MinnMax's $100 tier to make it a lot more fun, you're now able to have a direct impact on The MinnMax Show's set by sending us a picture of your choice and your name/username for us to put on the TV. It's a great way to get you or your pet out there.

Watch Us Stream JeffM's Favorite Tabletop Game: Camel Up
On Friday evening we launched our tabletop coverage by streaming several rounds of JeffM's favorite game for $5 supporters. This was a bit of a test, so please let us know what you think of the format and the tech in the comments below. We're planning on making a public video highlighting Camel Up in the future as well. https://www.patreon.com/minnmax

Thanks again, and we'll either see you at the meetup in Minneapolis or in the donations section of our toy drive charity! https://www.gofundme.com/f/sweet-toys-for-sick-kids-from-minnmax

Not to poop on the charity thing, but I did mention to my mom, who has been a pediatric nurse, like forever. One thing she mentioned, was that often times kids with chronic diseases who are in the hospital get too many presents and gifts, some they can’t even play with due to their condition. What is often missing is help for the families of kids with chronic illnesses. Things like help paying their medical bills, transportation and putting food on the table can go a long way. I know giving for that need is difficult and people don’t usually want to give money for stuff like that, but wanted to mention it when thinking of future endeavors. Great that you actually asked the staff what would be good to donate though!

When little brother was 5, he was diagnosed with leukemia. He spent the better part of the next 1 - 2 years in the hospital. As you can imagine, that was pretty tough on our family. My fondest memory through all of that was getting to visit my little brother in the hospital and playing video games with him on those TV carts they rolled into the room. We would spend hours playing different Super Nintendo games and some N64 when that first game out. It was the start of a long term video game co-op partnership and we have played through many games together since. The chance to get to donate for a cause that allows kids to share this same kind of memory is amazing. Thanks so much for organizing all that MinnMax. It’s amazing

If you're still taking nominations for categories in the GotY discussion...This one's probably a little tricky to define, but what was the most video-game-ass video game of the year? Like, which game made you sit back and go "Yeah, video games!" the hardest? My pick is Video Game: The Video Game.

I feel silly writing this but I am so happy to be able to co tribute and be a part if this. It was like a gut punch watching everyone leave GI and not getting to listen to Ben moderate a discussion on videogames weekly. To get all this for only a few bucks a month is totally worth it to me. Thank you for continuing to pursue your dreams and continuing to provide this content for us!
