DevLog Update (Patreon)

Hey all,

So it's that time again to check-in and talk a little bit about where things are at for the v0.09 of the Revamp. There's a lot finished but quite a bit left to go so let's jump in so you know exactly where I'm sitting at tonight.

Warning: To effectively update the community about the status of this update, I'm going to have to include some spoilers about the general trajectory of the chapter that were covered in the original game. However, this shouldn't spoiler new content specific to the Revamp but it will spoil the story if you've never played.

Writing

So the bulk of the writing seems to be in a pretty good place. To recap from the last time, I ended up outlining all of chapter 4 (updates 8 and 9) together to hopefully cover everything. The original code was spread out pretty wide and I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything. 

So right now, I have everything in one file from the original draft and I'm slowly copying sections over one section at a time. Chronologically, I'm all the way through Chapter 4 and currently at the end with the Poker Night event. As with the original game, the Poker game will include 3 choices: Braden Flawless Victory, Zack Flawless Victory, and the Nailbiter option that has them evenly matched until the final round where you will get to choose the winner (it's planned to be exactly how it was before).

Right now, I have Flawless Zack route complete up to the final round and I'm in round 3 (of 4) for Flawless Braden. The bulk of the writing here won't change but I'm smoothing a few things over so minor changes and grammar stuff but nothing crazy.

The bulk of the work right now is CGs so let's jump into that section.

CGs

So with this update, I've been working it chronologically and updating CGs and the writing simultaneously (sometimes I jump around). As of right now, CGs are caught up with the writing progress listed above. That being said, this update is going to be extremely image heavy for the Revamp. The original game folder for Poker alone had 89 images in it-- which was an insane amount of images for one event back then. In fact, those older fans that have been around since that original update may remember that the Poker game itself was an update all by itself. 

The bulk of the work here is trying to get the lighting right as well as have some interesting ways the guys can shed layers of clothing and interact with each other. There's a lot of events and discussions in Straight!? that take place stationary and the Poker event is another one of those examples. I feel pretty good about it so far. However, some changes to expect: this time the Poker game will take place at night-- not the fully lit room that you saw in the original game. There's also lots of new facial expressions to add to the banter. Like before, when one of the guys loses a round, he has to get up and go take something off. I'm trying to find a balance with those pics as well. This is a pretty intense/sexy scene early in the game so I really wanna try and keep that fire burning. Plus, keep in mind with having 3 routes to this game, that forces a lot of different clothing combinations for the guys-- which is a ton of the rendering work.

Last couple days I've gotten dozens of images done. Tonight, I'm typing this up with around 60 images in my queue that are gonna be rendering tonight after I log for the night. Hoping to get at least 30 of those finished tonight but we'll see how things go. Right now I'm sitting at 118 images for the Poker event finished or currently in the rendering queue.

In short, I have a lot done but still have the longest Nailbiter route to go as well as the final stripping scene then I'm done. Lot of images to go but some of those will be repeated images-- just with different outfits.

Aside from Poker, all the events including the Perv/Respect route scene are currently finished. the Pervy Route now has an animated scene in it that I'm pretty impressed with and already showed off a test copy here. 

Upcoming Teasers?

It's been a few days since I did the last set of teasers and we'll be seeing more shortly. I wanted to get through the bulk of the images and then sorta try and figure out what I wanna show off to give you an idea of what to expect. I think you're gonna like this one, though. This is definitely, the most NSFW update in the Revamp we've seen so far so get ready for a ton of skin. However, there's also the usual awkward banter, shit-talk, and clumsiness you've come to expect from these two guys. I've caught myself smiling a lot while doing some of the writing and making the pictures so hopefully that means you'll enjoy it, too.

Release Date

As always, I'm terrible at giving out dates-- mostly because i'm trying to focus on the quality of this scene versus rushing it out. However, my personal goal is to get it out this month. I haven't started on sound effects or music yet-- I usually do those last after everything is working and boots. I knew this was going to be a challenging update so stick with me. I promise it'll be good. I'll keep you posted and stay tuned for some more Before/After pics before long.
