DevLog Update: v0.04 Hopefully This Week! (Patreon)

Hey all,
So I wanted to drop another line to keep everyone in the loop since there's been a lot more game update releases lately than there has supplemental content here-- which is what I expected during these early chapters.
But I wanted to check in and keep everyone posted.
So rather than make you read all the way to the end, let's just get the good stuff out of the way: I'm hoping to release v0.04 this week. I'll be offline probably most of Saturday this weekend so the update either needs to come out a few days before that or it'll have to wait until after. I like being around for release days in case we need hotfixes and stuff.
Of course things changed from my original outline and plan but that resulted in a few new additions that we'll be seeing in v0.04. Last log, I was expecting around 200 images for this update and it ended up ballooning out to over 270. I'm mentioned before that I'm trying to salvage as much of the original text as I can so I found a few more scenes that I squished into this update. However, you may not see all of these on the first playthrough. This update has a few more random places you can go just to see more of the campus or interactions on things.
There's also a lot new sound effects as well as additional music added in this update to keep things feeling fresh moving forward.
I used to say "this update was a bitch" over and over until I realized that was the norm. However, the revamp hasn't been that terrible so far but this one was really a struggle to organize. I didn't like this section of the game so I was trying to strike a balance between preservation and keeping things interesting. There's a lot of setup in this section of the game and that just felt "blah" to me. The original game required you randomly choose the right combination of choices to advance the plot. And while repetitive, at least there was things going on. However, in trying to make that more linear, I didn't want to lose a lot of those random things that happened in the alternative scenes. My eventual answer was to give you choices at the beginning and let you sorta navigate your day and tried to mix and match as much of that old content as I could. It took me a lot longer than I wanted but I think it works and this particular update has started to grow on me a lot more. There's also some new interactions with other students and the entire singlet scene has been completely expanded with some visuals that I really enjoyed making.
Also, don't forget there's a pretty sly animation in this update involving Braden's facial expressions. Nothing major here but it's was an early test. I need to play around with some of this stuff before I get to scenes that matter a lot more (like the park). But it was a learning experience for me so be sure to keep an eye out for that.
So stay tuned. I'm waiting on the last few images to get reviewed and Photoshop corrections to be made then I'll drop them in and probably play through it one last time before I drop the update.
