Hey all,

Hope everyone is doing well. I realized that I haven't done a Devlog update yet since the last Patreon release so I popped in here to check-in regarding Revamp v13. The crazy part is that we're only a month out from the last update and I've been working nonstop on the v13 update. The Devlog silence means that things have been going really well so let's do a recap of where things are as of right now.

Writing

So the writing is pretty much done. Right now on the website, I have it listed at 95% but i can physically see the end of the chapter right now and I probably won't change a lot. I'm currently in the last scene and I think everything up to that point is good to go. For those of you that have read the original story, you'll know that this update is pretty dialogue heavy like the last one. I've elected to keep most of that dialogue original and intact. Very little changes on the writing in this update but there is some polish and a couple minor additions to help smooth things a bit. Right now I feel good.

CGs/Animations

So I just finished another 11 pics today and I'm gonna stop early and catch my breath while those render. As of right now I have 221 pics in the folder-- not counting todays work. For those of you that haven't seen the teaser posts, I can honestly say that this is probably the most beautiful looking update I've ever done. Pic-wise, I've upped the quality again over previous updates and there's some absolutely stunning shots in this update. I actually ended up making one of them my background because I absolutely love it. Damn thing almost made me cry. Animation-wise, players of the original know that this update has a pretty significant animation in it. That animation clocks in at 8 seconds and is around 480 frames. It's taken me about 6 days to render it. Right now I'm on frame 356 so I got a few more days to go. I usually render it overnight or during downtime when nothing else is going on. So far the individual frames look good so I'm a bit anxious to see what it looks like together. Definitely a quality upgrade tho this time and I'm excited to show it off when it's finished.

What's Next?

So my plan tonight is to render the stuff that I got done today then queue up the animation for overnight. If things go well, I'll have all the CGs done by the end of tomorrow. Then I get to code everything in, bug hunt, and try and get it to boot the first time.

After that it's more bug hunting and review and editing-- that process where i get to see everything together for the first time.

After that-- music/sound effects. I'm anticipating that the music may take longer in this update than previous ones so the fact that i'm insanely ahead of schedule right now should hopefully give me time to do the music without slowing anything down.

Release Date

I'm pretty confident that we'll see v13 drop in September-- maybe the first half if i'm lucky but we'll see. I still wanna take my time with this one and make sure it looks good. But right now-- this is the fastest update I think I've ever blown through. Looks like that prep work and practice paid off.

Stay tuned.

Ages ago I asked why Straight!? was still in pre-alpha. I'm starting to realise that it will just keep cycling through rebuild after rebuild, as each update improves on the last... I worry that I won't live long enough to see the beta version! :D

haha, nah. Revamp and I'm done. i dont want to continously make the same story over and over. i do think it will be difficult at some point to go back and look at it if i grow more as a creator but i think that's ok. for those long-term fans, we have the original full draft that shows progression and the revamp is already showing similar. i'm also not good with naming things technically so once we get to the end of the story of the revamp, it will just go from a "alpha" or "pre-alpha" to finished (exception being i may do a couple quick revisions after to fix spelling or bug stuff). but i wont be fully redoing the game again
