You're the best Arlo 💙

Ultimadrago

Thanks Arlo! I like my Arlocasts with extra ramble.

I think an Animal Crossing review would fit for a release on the game’s one year anniversary, cause by that point that seems like we’ve reach the full experience we can get

Anonymous

It’s been too long 😭 So happy.

Anonymous

I would honestly really love finally hearing you and Kane having a conversation for the podcast

Wood Duck

Any chance of every getting a patreon-exclusive podcast feed of regular arlo episodes? Getting just the audio export of your normal videos would mean a lot to people who just want to listen to your stuff at work or in general not-watching-yt situations!

Anonymous

I agree that the Pikmin big fat review would be a bit of a risk but I think it would be a lot more digestible for your audience if you made one big fat review for the entire Pikmin series. I personally have only ever played Pikmin 3 but based on what you said before Pikmin 1 + 2 are a little short so I think squeezing the whole series together shouldn't be too difficult. Plus you could kind of do them separately and together at the same time by releasing each big fat review in parts and then when all of them have come out put them into the same compilation.

Thank you for this arlo I really enjoy this podcast!! Just want to let you know to not push yourself! We want you to flourish into what your want but we don’t want you to feel pressured and burnt out, seems like you have a lot of projects in the works and just a friendly reminder to do what you can and what you love!!

Anonymous

Hey arlo, I just wanted to say that your passion and desire to create is inspiring. It gets me pumped up and wanting to create something myself, so thanks for sharing your thoughts and your journey.

Oh my goodness! I am so excited! I am at the podcast part, and I have a suggestion, instead of committing to once a week, try committing to 3 a month that way, you have some time if any of the logistics go wrong, or anything else has to change, and it won't feel like you're missing anything. Additionally, you can have extra episodes if you want to make more because the times that you will be uploading, even if it is every Monday or something, won't be too rigid as if it were every week. Thank you so much, and I am only 25 minutes in, so there will likely be more comments from me. Thank you!

I'm now an hour and a half in, and I am so glad that you found about your mental disorder (I also don't know what the right term is). I have dyslexia and dysgraphia, which are different, but also effect how your brains and processes information. I was lucky enough to find out when I was nine years old, so I did not spend a long time not knowing about it, and I 100% agree that anyone who thinks their brain might work differently should investigate it. It makes it more comfortable once you know, and the longer you know, the better you feel about it, and the more you understand yourself. To anyone finding out about it, I am proud of you for accepting it, and anything that makes you different is just something else unique to love.

As someone who struggles with adhd, I totally relate to you being more interpersonal to myself during quarantine. Here’s to us being better

I listened to this entire Arlocast in one sitting, and honestly, it's therapeutic. Just hearing you talk—about anything at all—just clears my head and resets whatever bad mood I'm feeling. You always apologize in your videos for going on about something for a long time, but I'm always disappointed when it ends! I haven't watched the BOTW Big Fat Review because I wanted to play the game all the way through for myself first, but at this point I don't even care anymore, it's 3+ hours of quality Arlo content that I'm NOT missing out on! Thank you for everything you do.

Bro you can't just mention your French fry Epiphany and not tell us what makes the perfect fry!

I'm always so surprised whenever anyone brings up the fact that Rasputin isn't common knowledge. like I was under the impression that it was a classic 70's song that everyone loved but apparently it's not as well-known as I thought.

Podcast segment idea: Pick a different category of food each week and ask the guests for their favorite food from that category (ex: chinese food: kung pao chicken. Holiday food: xmas tacos). Alternately, ask each guest their favorite Jim Henson character and explain why in two sentences or less. Looking forward to the return of Arlo Plays and to adding a third gaming podcast to my schedule (alongside the spawncast and the podcast formerly known as wulf den live).

Podcast idea: Every “Conversation for Another Day.” Every time I hear you mention nasty business practices, abusive treatment of employees, or mismanagement of time and resources of any video game company, it never seems to be quite on topic. You seem to always have to catch yourself from digressing too much by saying, “that’s a conversation for another day.” Well, I want all those conversations to be happening! I think your voiced perspective is a force for good in the industry as a whole. Maybe the podcast is a place for this? You could have a segment called Roberta’s Roundup, and your trusty steed could gallop in during each episode to help you dismantle the dirty deeds of that particular week (or whatever time frame). Love you, buddy!

I’ve been meaning to ask about the idea of a podcast (I like being able to listen to things passively, YouTube makes that difficult on mobile devices), and I’m so excited you’re starting one up! Idk how to say this without sounding weird, but you have a nice voice and it’s nice background when I’m zoning or doing other things. This obviously means multiple listens of things, but I digress ^^; And I Feel You on having so many games to make and stories to tell. I have one in particular that’s been fighting to get me to figure out how to make it, and it’s a distant dream. I can’t wait to hear when you get your stuff going!

Anonymous

Genuinely laughed out loud at someone complaining to a YouTuber that a video didn't respect his time. Dude, it's YouTube. Wasting time is the whole point Arlo, you're doing great! I freaking love all your content and I would *love* to add a show of yours to my podcasting diet.

Anonymous

Arlo, was so glad to see a new podcast, honestly some of my favorite content! I would love to see an expanded arlocast that becomes a more regular thing for you. Definitely good to diversify your brand. When talking about podcast guests, don’t forget - you’re the guy everyone loves to listen to! Also, glad to hear you’re focusing on your well-being - very important to know yourself, your limits and how you work best. Wishing you all the best in 2021.

Thanks for opening up so deeply about what's going on. Even just that helps to de-stigmatise mental health issues which can only be a benefit. Hearing about how your holiday went really helped me understand why I've had so much resistance going back to work myself, so it's nice to know what worked for you and what I could try myself. You're one of the good ones Arlo, hope you keep on doing you and entertaining us in the process. c: (Also I had the silliest grin when I heard you talk about Rasputin. It's a heck of a bop, even for a disco beat.)

Anonymous

I LOVE Rasputin. I’ve been listening to the song a few times a week for years

Mr.Cheesy toad

A lot of what you said about mental health really hit close to him... I'm glad you now have some more knowledge in this aspect of life! It really can make a world of difference once you understand it's not always a self issue, but instead something totally normal

About that Arlo cast on Pikmin 3 deluxe half the views may just be from me...... Lol I love watching that video from time to time while sending many Pikmin to their deaths

Trader Joes is a delicacy here on the east coast as well, I highly recommend their soup dumplings and spiced nuts

Could you not combine your book series idea & game design idea together? Also for your ice cream, if you grate your chocolate it shouldn't be so overpowering. 🥺

Anonymous

an arlo game will be amazing! thank you for this arlocast its always great to hear your voice

Anonymous

fellow "i discovered I'm ADD as an adult and it's been LIBERATING to see it that way instead of I'm just broken". Love you arlo thanks for being you and for existing!

OH and my partner says to replace some of the chocolate from that dessert with some cocoa powder. It'll mix nicely with the berries and will be less overwhelmingly sugary.

Anonymous

Looking forward to listening to it at work tomorrow. Going to also be treating my self to the Arlo Kaiju shirt this weekend.

Anonymous

Arlo I’d support your game for sure!

Anonymous

I am SO EXCITED to listen to this while I do my design homework. Thanks ARLO!

Anonymous

I really enjoyed listening to this podcast. I like how you gave some background information on the channel and kind of opened up a little bit about your personal life and some of the things that you're going through. I can relate a lot with the fuzziness you talk about so thanks for that recommendation on the channel I'll definitely check it out.

Anonymous

Thanks for the podcast, Arlo! I enjoyed every moment of it, including the mental health segment. I would totally back your game btw.

Blue Brew Music

Arlo's views on mental health and the value of research are wonderful. It's so heartwarming when great creators are great people as well.

I'm SOOOOO glad to hear of your decision to diversify your brand. Youtube seems so volatile -- especially lately -- with these weird, new guidelines and laws that keep coming out that seem to do NOTHING good and ONLY scare the creators. Also, I was upset hearing about Youtube throttling your views for seemingly no good reason. It's kinda selfish to say, but hearing your decision makes ME worry less. I'd hate to see your channel go under for stupid reasons or due to the erraticism of Youtube.

Anonymous

Arlo this big fat review series is the most excited I’ve ever been for youtube content take as long as you need but my gosh hearing an Arlo talking about games I like for THREE HOURS is heaven

Anonymous

By the way I don’t want to speak for everyone here but as a patron I am motivated to support you because I really like the stuff you make! Your channel is like a TV show I watch multiple times a week and not supporting you wouldn’t feel right :] If some of what I’m giving can go to more content that’s cool but it should go to as many people as possible so you’re benefitting from it as much as possible! Feeling special can be nice but really at the end of the day when you succeed we benefit from more Arlo stuff. I guess marketing Patreon with more exclusive to make some more dough from it could be smart in the long run but I hope you don’t worry about disappointing your current backers I guess is what I’m trying to say =)

LOLOL at that description about your experience eating the gyro. Rather than being, say, delighted or impressed, you were "confused" and "didn't know what to believe anymore". 🤣 By the way, if you like Rasputin, you'll probably REALLY enjoy the Just Dance routine of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCv5q2yoqAY I agree -- it IS a great song!

This is likely very late, but I still want to say my view in case you happen to read this. I think if you do the first two Paper Mario games, you have to do super. I know the game play isn't for you, but I think the creativity behind the game is why you should talk about it. It's the last game where the developers seemed to be allowed to be as creative as possible before.... something happened with S.S. It is the highest selling Paper Mario, which is partly because of the wii being a high seller, but exploring the reasons why so many consider it the last "true" Paper Mario game will be fun to see. Still, you said Pikmin, 3D Mario, Metroid, and Zelda come first, so I guess its not the time to think about Paper Mario...

I'm so happy to hear you discover the magic that is the Gyro Burger. I need you to give your opinions on Tzatziki sauce. That's the magic. It's fun just to say!

Hey Arlo! I'm glad you kinda got a "Rude Awakening" to mental heath and Nerodivergancies as whole. I was fortunate to be diagnosed with ADHD at a young age, and i'm glad people nowadays are realizing its not something in kids but is something that fully effects your life. I'm glad you found out about your OCD and i encourage you to get a formal Diagnosis (when you have the money to do so because you're American) One quick thing that you can pass on is that ADD isn't used anymore, its just ADHD with the three types! Also! I completely agree with your stament about making games except for the fact that i'm gonna be going too collage for programming in C# and Javascript and other things like that in a year or so! I'm kinda scared because i have had trouble learning coding languages before, but i'm doing it anyway!

Super late to the party, just wanted to say I thoroughly enjoyed this podcast so much and I hope you will do more podcasts more often! 💜 It was very encouraging to me to hear you talk about the importance of breaks and unplugging, I give myself plenty of breaks but I am not getting outside and experiencing nature, so I think that is why I still deal with so much fatigue and mental fuzziness. Also, I appreciate when you mention your age (random I know) because it inspires me that it's never too late to chase your dream, and I spent most of my 20s working dead end jobs for other people and just trying to scrape funds together to go to college. Now I'm graduating this May and it's hard not to feel a million years behind everyone else, but seriously, seeing your quality content and that you've made a career for yourself all on your own is awesome! It cuts through all the stigma and insecurities and makes me believe that maybe I can do that too, despite being older than my fellow graduates. Keep up the awesome work Arlo, and I hope you have a blessed day! 😊

I would totally support your game!!!!!

Hey Arlo! Able to be a patron again so I’m just listening to this cast now. I’m always astounded by the energy and creativity you bring to your projects. It’s obvious that you give it your all, whether it’s the BFRs or your previous channel before Arlo Stuff (you know the one, I thought it was a really cool project). Glad to hear you’ve got so many more ideas and projects you’d like to work on, I’m even happier to hear that you’re focusing on your mental health. Self-care is super important so please don’t let it slip. I deal with depression too, and it’s made graduate school and just interest in personal projects really hard (and the pandemic didn’t help). You’re more important than your channel so please keep taking care of yourself. I’m a social work graduate student and my undergrad degree was in psychology and sociology. 1st, there’s no such thing as ADD, ADHD is what you’re thinking of (i know you were having trouble with the vocab), but there is a lot of overlap between ADHD OCD and autism symptoms, so i get the confusion. 2nd, I get what your saying about it not necessarily being a disorder, there’s an idea in disability literature (and just with people with disabilities) that disability isn’t a problem IN the person but instead it’s a problem in the world in that its designed in such a way that is inaccessible/exclusionary thereby CREATING the disability. The less stigmatizing word that people prefer to use is Neurodivergence/neurodiversity - you could still consider something like ADHD or Autism a disorder/disability but in the sense that the world we live in isn’t really designed for people whose brains work in that specific way (also capitalism). It’s just one way of thinking about it but it sounds like what you were saying and it’s the way i prefer to think. As for Arlo content — I’m super excited for the podcast. I think it could maybe replace the news roundup? It’s not obviously not the same kind of content but I think maybe people would be more interested in a group of people discussing the news than the more brief overview that you do. It would be less of a workload that way too. Just an idea! Also YES GROUPER!! She’s the best. — and i think you should check out the OST for Moon, the 1997 “anti-rpg” (it’s really an adventure game) that just was translated to English for the first time last year. Similar vibes to the Pique stuff but there’s like a crazy mix of genres—synth stuff, shoegaze, folk, etc. Oops that was a lot! Well it’s okay if you don’t read it. TLDR I value you and your presence in the world and I hope you’re doing well!

Anonymous

Totally late to comment on this - I often neglect to check out new Patreon exclusives for weeks! But it's great to hear you open up about your personal journey of discovery about neurodivergency. I have lived my whole life with ADHD, and I can definitely related to how this pandemic has really brought out and laid bare things you have struggled with in your own life, but didn't properly acknowledge or confront until now. Also looking forward to seeing what you have planned in terms of game development and game ideas! Thanks for the Arlocast - hope you're doing well!

Hey Arlo! So...for your Big Fat Review of Pikmin 1 maybe you could just use the gameplay from Arlo Plays.

Nicholas Arthur La Barre

Love you Arlo. Thank you for everything you do and keeping up the good fight.

God it’s been 4 months and this is still the best podcast I’ve ever heard, such good advice and so mentally rejuvenating
