Yo guys. Sorry I've been slacking in this department. But here I am to fill you in on what's coming up in the near future. So let's get to it!
First we've got "Looking Back at Nintendo's MOST HORRIFYING E3 EVER". This one has already gone out to $10+ folks (I commented on the post with the Youtube link if you guys didn't notice yet), and it will be published tomorrow, May 25th. This one came to me pretty suddenly. I was just thinking about how there's so much hilarious material from Nintendo's old E3 shows. 2008 was probably the most infamous one, so I did a whole video recapping it. It was edited by the second editor to join the ArloStuff ranks, Farfetch'd Reviews. Just like Lonely Goomba did with previous videos this new guy did a TERRIFIC job, and I can't wait to show it to everyone. I think the content was already pretty funny, but he added so much more humor to it. So stay tuned for that one very soon!
Next will be my review of Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition. As you know reviews normally take me a super long time, but I played the game for like three days straight then busted out the script and shot it, and now I just need to capture some footage and put the whole thing together. I normally like to give a game more time than that, as first impressions can often change, but I feel that in this particular case it didn't really need more. And since I didn't go SUPER in-depth with the game, I'm not really going super in-depth with the review either. Sometimes I like to go crazy and talk about every single little detail possible, but in this case I kept it slightly more broad. It's still over ten minutes long, so I don't know if my plan worked... But hey, we'll see. I was originally going to publish that one a week after the E3 2008 video, on June 1st, but it's going so smoothly that I think I'm going to get it out as soon as it's done then push out.....
This video! There's this image going around that compares the Switch library to the Wii U library and shows how similar they are, and it's making the argument that people are hypocrites for shunning the Wii U and loving the Switch. There's also just been a lot of this kind of attitude around lately because of all the ports, and I'm just fed up with it. So I want to make a quick video talking about why it's just silly, and there's no hypocrisy going on here. It's one of those things were the claim is so silly (in my mind) that the arguments should be obvious, but I guess it bugs me enough that I figured I'd make a video on it. It should be pretty simple though, so I figure I can easily get it done between the Hyrule Warriors review aaaand.....
The E3 2018 pre-show! That's right, it's finally time to start the E3 train rolling! I'm not 100% sure of how this is going to go down, as I can't really plan it much until I'm right there about to make it, since news could drop ahead of the big show that could drastically change my pre-show content. It will probably be mostly like it was last year though, very likely split into two parts again if I feel I've got enough to talk about. But we'll just have to see. And if you didn't see my videos last year and don't know what to expect, you'll see expectations, wishes, rumor talk, and a little bit about the non-Nintendo companies.
Then, of course, the big show. Right now there are three guaranteed videos that will come out of it: The live reaction/commentary video, the discussion/summary video, and most likely a Gamer's Brief (they don't do well yet I just can't stop pushing them, at the very least for E3). Beyond this it will entirely depend on what Nintendo announces or if there are any funny little bits I can think to do around E3 in general. For instance last year we had the Metroid Prime 4 bombshell, so I made a video talking about why the announcement was so big a deal. Then of course the show was so good that it seemed Nintendo had sealed the deal regarding their return to form, so that got its own video as well. This year though it's hard for me to imagine any announcement that would warrant its own whole thing, since Nintendo isn't in such a state of flux anymore. Even if the show ends up disappointing it would still be too early to start making doom and gloom videos, haha. So it's likely that any opinions I end up having will simply fit in the discussion video after the show. But hey, we'll see! Maybe some new game will look so good that I'll just have that much to say about it, much like I did with Super Mario Odyssey (twice).
It's hard to think beyond E3, so that's really all I've got for you right now. As always I'm really excited though. Last year I worked harder on E3 than I'd ever worked on anything, so weirdly enough I'm looking forward to the hard work this year. It's just fun trying to get a whole bunch of stuff out at once--like a really intense challenge, and the better I do the better my channel growth and all that ends up being. Fortunately/unfortunately though, this year I'll have Farfetch'd on hand in case I need some help, so that's pretty nice. Even just getting editing help with one video would help tremendously.
Off the subject, I went to an amazing Muppet-related event at the Jim Henson company a few weeks ago. Long-time patrons will remember a similar event in 2016. Then the other night I saw Weird Al in concert, which was also amazing. Unfortunately I've got too much to say about both and it's not really related to my channel at all, so I'll be blabbing about all that in an upcoming Arlocast. So if hearing about that kind of boring stuff interests you, you can upgrade to the $3/month tier.
Speaking of tiers, I'm considering switching my Patreon from charging a new patron at the start of the next pay period, to charging them upfront, then each pay period after that. See, part of me hates this idea, because I feel like I would never want to pledge money to someone knowing that I would get charged again really soon, and if I tried to wait until the pay period had started I would probably forget and miss it, then wait until the next month AGAIN. I mean I really don't want people to get double charged. But the reason I'm considering it is I get a lot of declined/fraud pledges, and right now I don't believe it's very hard for those people to access blogs and stuff anyway. You can correct me if I'm wrong on that one, but the biggest thing is not knowing which top patrons to shout out at the end of the month. If everyone was charged on the spot, there would be no question. And in every case it's not that I'm SUPER concerned about giving people stuff for free; I mostly just don't want to make the people who DO successfully pay upset. It sort of makes their pledge less valuable, know what I mean? I don't know, maybe I should just leave it as it is, especially since once I change it it can't be changed back. But you guys should let me know what you think about it. I want to make sure I do the right thing.
Well that's probably enough for today. Thanks sooooo so much to my new patrons since last time! Introduce yourself in the comments below!
See you all at E3!!! :D
