This is an unusual release.

First, let's talk about the Moemon themselves. Ponyta and Rapidash were a long experiment in the making. I actually started working on them about two months ago with their original designs, but they were ultimately put on hold since new sprites were in the works (the ones you see above). After picking them back up, I wanted to experiment a bit with their hair.

I messed around with several different methods, filters, textures and "tricks" and ultimately fell in love with this final result. The method is two-fold; first, the base hair uses a DualScroll filter to create a flowing effect, much like you've seen with previous "fire" Moemon, though this one contains a much better texture and flow. Second, a copy of the hair is made and slightly larger than the original. This second piece of hair is filtered with the CRTV effect, with the color turned to zero. This creates a "heat wave" effect.

The end result can really only be appreciated yourself in studio. Mostly because I tried uploading a video of it but Patreon really sucks ass when it comes to videos. So, unlike usual releases, I'm attaching a scene of the file I intended to use as video preview in the folder attached to this post so you can quickly check them out on your own without messing around too much.

This took a lot of work so I really hope you enjoy, and that it inspires you to create your own cards with the techniques used here!

Edit: Oh, important note - if this kills your CPU, turning off "Sub" accessories disables the CRTV accessories, which might help!
