Update #43 - Time To Shake Things Up! (Patreon)

Hey, everyone!

First off, there's still 2 more releases for this month, Gible's family and Giratina, but I need a bit more time for both.

I wasn't really planning to do an update so soon but figured I might as well just to give a heads up on things, as well as drop a few previews, and some work-in-progress creations, as well as future plans. Even though there's lots to cover, I'll try and keep it short. Let's jump into it.

Planned Break Postponed

Before we do get started, I had mentioned previously that I was going to take next month off to catch a bit of a break, but I decided to postpone that for a few reasons: one, I'm not feeling as burned out as I was, in fact I'm excited to share some upcoming things later in this post. Second, when I take a break will likely be during the extremely hot California summer, so July or August. I'd rather just not do anything during that time frame, so it would be perfect for a break.

April Showers Bring May Flowers?

So, the release schedule for this month has been weird. Since Gen 4 sprites are not all complete, we've been releasing things in a weird order, and we don't even have all the starters out yet. See last update for some details on that. Originally, I planned on taking a break, then coming out with a new format, but I think we'll just start next month. So what's the new format?

Let's Just Call It "The Cool Stuff"

Honestly there's no other way to say it other than just stuff I want to release. It may be old reworks, it may be Ultra Beasts, it may be a random Moemon family from Gen 8 (and yes, we do have some sprites for Gen 8), or it may be some original stuff, or Trainers, or Gym Leaders, or who the hell knows. For example, did you know awhile back I wanted to release a Queen Bellelba card? Do you even know who that is?

Queen Bellelba is that antagonist of the Pokéstar Studios' film, Mystery Doors of the Magical Land Series, featured in Gen 5's Black/White 2 which..

..look, it's Sabrina. The Gym Leader, Sabrina.

Sabrina is muh waifu and I've always wanted to make this card for her. But I never did, I didn't have time, at the time of releasing the original Sabrina. Although, her (Queen Bellelba's) iconic Moemon didn't exactly have sprites back then (or at least were outdated), but they do now:

--Yeah you get the point. They're so cute, should I really wait literally months to make them when I can make them now? There's so many adorable ones that are already complete that I want to work on. 

And that's the new format going forward.

Let's take a look at some of the cutest from each of the upcoming Generations, starting with..

Generation 5 - Unova

Purrloin & Liepard have been finished for so long that they're already remaking them because they're so outdated. Here's a sneak peak at the newest Purrloin sprite:

Overall, very cute, and definitely more appropriately designed as compared to the previous, for one, she actually has a tail now.

But I like them both. So I'm going to make them both. The old ones first, then the new ones later, but we'll call them.. variations of each other. Not a reforge.

Those weird ice cream Pokemon that made everyone go "wow that's stupid they're just making Pokemon out of random objects" completing ignoring the fact that Voltorb exists or that Grimer was a pile of hot shit. But anyways, I've been wanting to make these for so long, though I still never figured out how to release Vanilluxe. Maybe as two separate girls? No, I might keep her as one and simply use alternate outfit slots. I think. We'll see.

Generation 6 - Kalos

If you said you wouldn't do unspeakable things to Noivern, you'd be a fucking liar. Look at those thighs. What is she doing with all those thighs? Double hammed up on a Thursday afternoon, the sun is still up..

Furfrou doesn't have sprites for her other Forms that I've been able to find at least, but it gives me a lot of creative liberty to mess with for her alternate outfit slots. She's so cute too look at her she's like a little rocker

Generation 7 - Alola

I've been wanting to do the Lycanroc family so badly since these sprites were made like holy shit are you kidding me? Look at her freaking Midnight Form. I mean even her Dusk Form is just BEGGING to be pet. Even Midday is an adorable beast.

Oh, speaking of Beasts.

These Ultra Beasts are just waiting to be unleashed.

And yes, I'm counting Solgaleo and Lunala as Ultra Beasts, since technically Cosmog/Cosmoem are hypothesized to be Ultra Beasts. Speaking of both, unfortunately we won't have sprites yet for Cosmoem, but Cosmog we do:

Tanned + Pale Cosmog, because, you know, Sun & Moon. Tanned evolves into Solgaleo eventually, Pale into Lunala.

Generation 8 - Galar

Believe it or not, they already have several Sword & Shield Moemon. Not many, but what is there is fairly well done, including the full Scorbunny family. It's been too long since we released any Bunnies (about a year to be exact). It's time to fix that.

Regional Forms

There's actually a ton of regional Moemon that I've dying to make. Out of all of them, the Ponyta Galar variations have been on my radar ever since, well, pretty much day 1 when these were made, which was just shortly after she was teased in the S&S teaser stream.

How long has it been since we did a Mega? Mega Metagross, I believe. Actually, Mega Metagross is going to be reworked soon, too, ironically.

Oh speaking of Megas. How long since we did Mega Pidgeot? I don't even remember if they had a sprite for her back then.

ANYWAYS.

None of this should really be taken as a final schedule of next month's release, although.. Most likely, yeah, most of these you will see. There may be some others though, it all just depends. That's kinda the point of the new format, "it just depends", or, "let's just go with the flow", and see what we want to do.

As it happens, you should be seeing some new polls coming up to see what you all would prefer, in a generic sense, like, "What's your favorite Generation? Favorite Type?" etc etc. Just to get a finger on the pulse of where to direct things.

That said, remember I mentioned Sabrina up there?

Well, it has been a long time since I made the Gen 1 Gym Leaders.
