Palkia is here!

Surprise Legendary!

I know I said the Update would be next, but I actually wanted to take a couple of days off for the Easter weekend, because surprisingly a bunch of family decided to get together anyways so it was all sort of spontaneous. That said, I wasn't doing NOTHING, but actually working on Palkia (a real THICC bitch, by the way). And quite a lot of work went into her.

I dare say that she's only being held together by a string, some glue, and luck. The configuration required to make her outfit work the way it does is quite complex and ONE little change actually resets the entire thing, so I don't advise touching her main outfit. Like, at all.

If you do, some things you should be aware of: Her top is using the "blazing" uniform to consist of two parts, the grey undershirt (as seen on the sprite) as well as her armored chest piece. However, the chest piece is rather problematic. First, the chest armor uses a custom overlay to hide pieces of the armor, but in order to hide them, the render type has been changed to Alpha.

This also has the unintended effect of remove the texture from the chest piece, so a custom overlay is added to give it the correct coloring and detail.

There's also insane amounts of clipping because of her breast size. The problem is, the armor doesn't mesh to the breasts, but rather the torso. So, to remove the clipping, the Bra slot is modified to remove the "upper" part.

And a custom Body Alpha Mask had to be added.

Hopefully that doesn't blind you.

Because of the overall instability of the code, changing even the slightest thing would pretty much reset everything back to this monstrosity above.

Although, it wouldn't be fair to criticize any of the modders of these really awesome plugins. The entire system is built on spaghetti code without any actual API as far as I'm aware so the fact that any of this shit works is a miracle to begin with.

Anyways, that should be it. I'm really happy with how she came out, particularly because she's exceptionally close to her actual sprite design, which unfortunately is lacking a back sprite, so the only thing to work off of was the front sprite seen at the top of this post. Still, everything is basically the same, minus her gloves, which, there does exist a pair that matches the design, but it lacks the sleeves and it would have needed a lot of work to get the recoloring/detail work in, so I figured using Valkyrie gloves would fit thematically better anyways.

EDIT: I totally forgot to mention how hilariously convenient her helmet was to work with, by he way. Looking at her sprite, you wouldn't think something even remotely similar existed in Studio, and believe me I spent a good deal of time working with other accessories to get something to mesh right, until I found the GoGo Helmet. I exported it's UV map and texture and realized all it needed was a quick stroke of Purple at the top of the helm and a quick erase of one part to get it matching quite nicely. I mean, it literally only took about 3 clicks to get it working.

The visor comes off with one button in the Material Editor, and the lower part of the bottom frame was removed in the texture. To quote Todd Howard, IT JUST WORKS.

*Edit over*

Oh by the way, all of her accessories are copied to every outfit slot, but can easily be turned off with the Sub button.

Enjoy!

*This may not be the only Legendary this month, by the way!*
