Update #41 - Eeveelutions & Season 4 Announced! (Patreon)

Happy Friday everyone!

It's time for a semi-big update! Not small enough to be a mini-update, but not super big to be a major update, but we'll throw it in the later category for posterity purposes! Let's not waste any time, and jump right into the two big announcements/previews!

Season 4 - Soon!

While I teased last week that I was thinking of spending another month reworking several Gen 1 Moemon to give time for the artists to finish a few leftover Gen 4 Moemon sprites, I think it's fair to say that most of you don't want to wait anymore for some of your favorite Gen 4 Moemon; especially since, if you have played the Mega Moemon FireRed version, you know that some Gen 4 Moemon aren't exactly obtainable in the game, so you may not even know what many of the sprites look like and are excited to see some of them -- though you always could go digging around the discord if you're impatient!

As it stands, Gen 4 will not be a complete season, and it will be a bit unorthodox on how we release things. Typically, I hold a poll asking your favorite Starters and their corresponding trainers, but because they aren't all finished yet, we'll be doing the release slightly different.

First, Piplup's family line will be the first Starter family to be released!

This works perfectly, because canonically, Piplup is also our first Female trainer's chosen Moemon - that trainer being Dawn, of course!

The other starters will be delayed a bit, but I can say fairly confidently that Turtwig's family line will be after Piplup, with Chimchar last (Chimchar's family is heavily outdated!)

Now, typically we'll then release Moemon based on what you would encounter as you normally play the game -- so for example, on Route 201, the first route in the game, you can find Starly, Bidoof, and rarely, at night and early morning, Kricketot.

Well, unfortunately, Starly's line is not technically finished. Bidoof and Kricketot are, however, so that's pretty straight forward and you should see them early on. As we go a bit deeper though, things will get a bit wonky. The Shinx line is really cool and I'm super excited to work on that, but literally right after that in the Dex entry -- and found on Route 204 -- is Budew, but we already released her, alongside Roselia and Roserade! 

And she was very pretty, thank you! 

As you'll see, there's actually a decent amount of Gen 4 Moemon that we already released -- Buneary and Lopunny, Mismagius, Honchkrow -- to name a few. There's a few case examples of evolution-only Moemon that will be released alongside their previous' forms from other Gens, such as Ambipom with her previously unreleased Gen 2 Aipom. Another example is Magnezone, who will see a full family release, since Magnemite/Magneton do have new sprites recently, and are a bit dated anyways.

But there's a couple of Moemon that just aren't finished, but fortunately they aren't exactly popular to begin with. Cherubi is finished, but her evolution, Cherrim, isn't.

Be honest, did you even remember these two existed? Anyways, luckily there's only a handful of unfinished ones, so we can always come back to them, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

We've covered a lot on this topic to begin with, but we'll be going into even greater detail, with lots of previews, next week. For now, let's hit the previews for THIS upcoming week!

Eeveelutions!

That's right! You probably already guessed it based on the hint given in one of the last drops, and the screenshot above is early work on two of our first remakes - Champion Blue and her adorable Eevee.

The last time we saw Blue was as a trainer, but it's been years since then. She's ascended to Championship since then, and now runs the Viridian City Gym. She's all grown up.

And she's grown up in more ways than one.

It's been a long time since we saw these four. Eevee and Jolteon have all new sprites, and Vaporeon and Flareon have both been polished up. So, it's time for a remake - that's what this month was all about right? But let's not stop at just the Gen 1 Eeveelutions, let's hit ALL of them!

While I loved their initial release, they could use a good polishing up, with updating bodies/faces and some better clothing that's more identical to their sprites, if possible. Umbreon in particular is one of my favorites, so I want to give her extra care.

Gen 4 Eeveelutions are on the table as well! Leafeon and Glaceon would be coming out in Gen 4 anyways, so let's throw them in now as an early release. These two will be fun!

Sylveon, of course, is last. She'll also be our very first Gen 6 Moemon, which is great because she's also one of the few Gen 6 sprites actually finished, lol.

This is going to be a huge work load so hopefully it all gets finished before the end of the month. As far as Shiny versions go, I'm not too sure if we'll do them just yet.. That's almost 20 cards that would need to come out over the next week.

I do have a day job, yknow!
