Chris .. I find this a very interesting subject . Thank you for covering it. First question.. Did the planners anticipate that Stukas would need fighter protection. ? To set up my last question.... I read everything I could find about the planing and execution of Barbarossa to understand how Professional soldiers could not anticipate the important problems and shortcomings they faced in taking on the SU... even if one allows for propaganda, Nationalism and true believers . it just seemed too big a stretch that they could get this so wrong. .BUT to simplify, I found some did... like General Wagner the Quartermaster . He was right on... but like a modern giant out of control corporate machine, Barbarossa' inertia led Germany to disaster. Obviously there are many reasons for this . beside the obvious but logical idea that the only potentual enemies were seen to be Small European countries . My question....Did the Airforce leaders ( or anyone else ) see these kinds of problems in building the Luftwaffe ? Any books to read ?

I find it amazing dive bombing was accurate. It works out on paper as a physics problem to solve. I suppose they did 100's of test runs to build the math tables and more test runs to deploy. We all know a direct hit was not necessary. Always like the huge wingspan and previous video's you've made on STUKA!

Didn't the USSR Air Force also develop Dive Bombers like Ar-2 and Pe-2, and B-18B for the Swedish Air Force?
