Holy hell, I actually drew something!? Yeah real sorry not a whole lot has been getting done the past week, I'm sorry to anyone still waiting for commissions and anyone still waiting for sketches, a lot of irl farm work needed doing (including but not limited to moving the parts of a collapsed barn) and every time I thought it was done I was never actually done. More or less every day somebody wanted or needed a piece of me for something, even if it was something fun like on Thursday when me and my sisters went to see Lightyear after that day's farm work was done, which is the reason I drew this. Yeah I did wanna see that, but I didn't know we were doing it that day until like barely an hour before we were leaving, and in our rural neck of the woods the drive there and back is pretty long, so that was more or less an all-day thing between that and the farm work. Again, a thing I wanted to do, but not exactly the most convenient day to do it and I didn't have much control over it, the choice was either to go see it then when the group was heading in that direction or stay home and work and see it by myself some other time. And come on, half the fun of going to the theater is being in a group. And pretty much every day the past week has been just some other variation of that, with varying degrees of "don't really want to do this but it needs to be done" vs "really want to do this but would rather it not be right now if given the choice," let it be said that my followers' patience never goes unappreciated.

With that said Lightyear didn't overly impress me and I actually have so much to say about it that at some point I'm gonna have to download a cam rip so I can watch it again at home so I can take notes this time, but the point that's relevant here is that it made me wish I was watching the show instead. And I went into it with the specific intention not to compare them, because I wanted to judge it for what it is instead of what I *wanted* it to be, but when the plot is more or less the same as the show's pilot movie and every character has an analog in the show, it's like Pixar was begging me "Flannel, please, compare them," and the particular comparison that's relevant here is that the character designs in the original were so interesting and creative that unnamed background characters make big enough impressions to wanna draw fanart of. The first commission I got to draw this one, I didn't even have to click the link for the reference, as soon as he said "Centaur-like Ranger from Buzz Lightyear of Star Command" I knew exactly what he was talking about. In the new one though I didn't even care to remember the names of half the characters that do have them. You could tell me the name of the guy with the pen a million times and I will not remember it, he's always just gonna be Not-Booster to me. The whole rest of the movie is like that, I can't think of a single thing the movie does that the show also does where the show didn't do it better, and that just makes it even more criminal than it already was that Disney just wants to bury the show and pretend it didn't exist. Like, not only is one of their better shows and an iconic part of the Toy Story franchise, watched by enough people to justify airing it in reruns for NINE YEARS, gonna just be forgotten eventually if given their own way, but in its place is gonna be an inferior version, just to add insult to injury. Which is why I'm super glad that basically every YouTuber I've seen review it has made a point to mention the show and encourage people to go watch it instead, with any luck maybe a new generation can be exposed to it and demand for an official release can become too great for Disney to ignore. Let's hope they listen.

And until they do, expect to see more of this character from me once in a while, if they're not using the IP then we might as well after all
