Almost a year in the making. A similar pic not going my way kinda ruined my birthday last year when I tried to make a sort of gift to myself, and I even temporarily discontinued April for a while I was so frustrated by it, not doing anything with her until October, and even then reluctantly. But ultimately the wait was good for it, as I genuinely think what I did here does a better job of conveying what April is like and how she'd react to spontaneous mermaidification than the sketch I was originally going to do. So really, maybe brainfarting and accidentally saving over the previous April pic because I was distracted by ice cream while I was typing, without knowing I'd have to sit around with my thumb up my ass while my sister picked out curtains before I could have any because there was apparently no other day she could have done that, was ultimately a good thing for both that pic and the character, like maybe that was a sign, fate's way of telling me that April wasn't ready to be a mermaid yet, that the idea would have to incubate first.
