So to give some context here, the fifth episode of Brand New Animal spoofs the ancient US sports comedy film, Bad News Bears.  In short, a terrible baseball team (comprised of actual bears in BNA's case), is kept down at the bottom of the league because their manager, and the rest of the baseball league, make money on pre-determined outcomes.  Akin to the film, the series' young female protagonist, Michiru, helps the bears win and work their way up the league to the finals.   I don't think it's a coincidential thing as series originator and director, Yoh Yoshinari has included several shout outs to a lot of Western things.

Originally, this was going to be a much bigger picture with a different baseball team members (the majority of whom hulk over the bears) but I ran out of time this month, so me centreing in on the Buffalos will have to do.

Fair warning, episode 5 was directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, most famous for his hyper-exaggerated animation style with extreme forteshortening  - think flashy stylised explosions, people powering up, or yelling scenes in Fooly Cooly, or in Shaman King, or Medabots or Kill la Kill,  He has a totally recognisable style.    Still, it's a funny little breather episode in between drama and stuff (and doesn't represent the series as a whole!)

At the time of posting, I dunno when the official N'flix version is supposed to come out, so my apologies for the spoilers.  Still, enjoy!
