Starting the year with an oddity. I’m taking a look at (and a listen to) the CHORDMACHINE from Sony - a strange hybrid device that defies conventional categorisation. Unless that category is ‘What the heck were they thinking?’

In a recent update I mentioned how I’d avoided featuring boombox/synth combo units due to being unable to play keyboards. There’s no such concern here as I doubt Jean-Michel Jarre could wring a tune out of this one.

While I’m here - I’ll wish everyone all the best for what remains of 2022.

A) Patrons https://www.patreon.com/techmoan usually have early access to videos. I'll show the first version of a video on Patreon and often the feedback I get results in a video going through further revisions to improve it. e.g. Fix audio issues, clarify points, add extra footage or cut extraneous things out. The video that goes live on youtube is the final version.

It's interesting to note - a larger number of these can now be found on eBay for hideous prices.

I’m pretty sure anyone who buys one will be sorely disappointed. I can see people thinking there’s loads of unseen and untapped potential. There’s going to be a few ‘oh, turns out it doesn’t do much, just like he said’.

Small tip: when resoldering broken solder joints like on that speaker jack, always add a little bit of either fresh flux core solder, or flux on its own. The pin and / or the old solder will have become somewhat dirty and oxidized, so the new connection might not be too great / strong without some flux to clean it all up.
