A bit of space age tech for your Sunday.

I'm posting this one here ahead of schedule as I'm currently working on another space related video and all being well I could probably do with getting both of these out, on or around the 20th July to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.

There may be a longer gap than normal between video releases after this next one while I catch up.

Space age audio - fifty years on

The moon landing encounters the Philips UFO. Depending upon what source you read, the date for the introduction of the Philips UFO turntable might vary. Multiple sources indicate that the design was done by Patrice Dupont in 1969 - these include https://sound-of-design.de/en/node/188 - and the book “L'utopie du tout plastique : 1960-1973”. However other online sources state the GF303 was manufactured from 1972-1974. Irrespective of which one is correct, it’s irrefutably a classic space-age design. ---------------SUBSCRIBE------------------ http://www.youtube.com/user/Techmoan?sub_confirmation=1 -------------Merchandise----------------- https://teespring.com/stores/techmoan-merch -------------SUPPORT--------------- This channel can be supported through Patreon https://www.patreon.com/techmoan *******Patrons usually have early access to videos******* ----------Outro Music----------- Over Time - Vibe Tracks https://youtu.be/VSSswVZSgJw ------Outro Sound Effect------ ThatSFXGuy - https://youtu.be/5M3-ZV5-QDM

Wonderful! My earliest memories were of the Apollo moon missions and I can vaguely remember my dad setting up his 35mm camera on a tripod to take photos from the television screen of Armstrong and Aldrin’s first steps on a moon. This week I have been reliving the 50th anniversary in real time with ‘live’ tweets from the mission, and watching other streaming videos and vlogs on Apollo 11. I have also been rereading the First On The Moon book each night.....this as my favorite book in my parents’s library when I was growing up in the 70s. What a treat this video has been, thank you so much for all your excellent videos, but especially for this timely video....keep up the excellent work!!!!

Hello - I'm Andrew - the original provider of the Apollo 45" disc, and now a (long-overdue) Patreon. Me and the missus were slightly starstruck in being name-checked. Great stuff, Mat, as always.

Well I’m glad you’re here. I hope you like the use the record was put to. It took quite a few months to find one of those record players...I’d had the idea of using that model from the beginning, although I wasn’t aware until I’d bought one that it was designed in 1969 which was a nice coincidence. Anyway thanks again and if you ever feel like you want the record back, just let me know.
