Dashcam Review - The Yi Ultra (Patreon)

For the first few years my youtube channel was built on the back of dashcam reviews. Back when I started out the term dash-cam had yet to be coined, they were Car DVRs and they're still one of the main reasons people visit my website. 

So with that in mind I should really try and keep up to date with the latest models, so that I always have some I can recommend, and that's exactly why I've tested out the new 2.7K Yi Ultra. 

I understand from previous patreon survey responses that these kinds of videos aren't too popular, so this might be one to skip if you're not in the market for a dashcam. It'll be interesting for me to see how many views this video receives.

UPDATE: I've made a couple of corrections and uploaded a new version above. It may take a while for the 4K/UHD resolution to appear on youtube.

I think Tecmoan is in trouble. The patreon objective for the 4000 dollars is approaching and will be then charged the promised video tour. ;)

You are too pessimistic .... But if you want more views you had to lower the quality of the reviews or analyze something obvious and commercial. After all the masses like to criticize things that they do not perceive or that others like. But this is not your market and I hope it will not be. I hope you continue with this quality. The funny thing is just yesterday I was discussing with the Mrs how I turn down a lot of invites to review silly things or promote the channel, and how I could make more money if I took these on, but I’m not too interested in the money. I can see how easy it is to go down the paid-promotion route, but as long as I can keep paying the mortgage i’ll be fine. I prefer to do things at my own pace and make videos about things I find interesting. I had 25 years of trying to be ‘successful’ in a career, and failed miserably...so now this is my semi-retirement phase of just doing what I like and not having to answer to a boss.

Heres a thought, with these potential paid plugs why not just pass it by your Patreons first with a vote, then perhaps it will give some insight into if going to damage your channel? Many of the major channels integrate paid for content all the time, in with real reviews. I just skip over it, doesn't cause me a great deal of distress.

Unfortunately I learnt the hard way after the first one I tried that you have to commit up front to doing a certain amount of slots...and when I decided that I wasn't interested in continuing after the backlash to the first advert, it was like I'd said no to Tony Soprano. I don't want to get involved in that again - it was a big mistake...like selling your soul to the devil.
