the monster wasn't scared of the star pattern when Steven let the Centipeetle out of its bubble, Garnet tried to use her gauntlets to beat it up, then it saw Garnet's gauntlets again in the ice cave also, the Centipeetle in episode 1 is the same one here, it just took on a smaller form for reasons I don't remember and the monster survived getting crushed because it went back into its gem (the pokeball looking thing), the same way Pearl did when she got stabbed and poofed back in episode 16 (Steven the Sword Fighter) and that's all I can say without spoiling really looking forward to your reactions to some of the later episodes this season, I love this show and you're one of my favorite reaction creators, if not my favorite
