The biggest problem with going to the next nearest town, only Fjord knows how to sail at all, training the rest of the the party to sail in three days is unlikely if possible at all, or try to have Fjord sail the ship alone for 3 days, which is a problem. Also they said Caleb can help navigate but he's not really a navigator.

Only Fjord has any training so sailing for even 3 day with only 1 guy would be next to impossible. While he has the numbers of people he needs, no one has the knowledge he needs, including himself as he never had any training in navigation so he can make the ship go he doesn't know how to end up where he wants to go.
