Cinnamon Bun is blue because someone (probably flame princess or Flambo) used a fire immunity spell on him, same thing happened back in previous episodes when finn first met flame princess and jake asked Flambo for the spell and went to talk with her in the fire kingdom

Cinnamon Bun may be an idiot, but he did a lot more for Flame Princess in this episode than Princess Bubblegum did. Flame Princess just went through a breakup, it's normal for her to be sad and she has to work through it. She's upset, but stable and not hurting anyone. And along comes PB offering to suppress those emotions with some experiment for her own scientific purposes. Flame Princess is looking for emotional support and she gets isolated and strapped to a table to be subjected to tests and forced to face the person who betrayed her. By the same person who originally ordered her confined for most of her life. Then Cinnamon Bun, when left to his own devices (which is also irresponsible of PB because what could he do if something went wrong?), immediately treats her like a friend instead of an experiment. And with his support she finds her own way and overthrows her evil father. Now, I'm not hating on PB; she's a complex and interesting character and she means well. But she has a dark side and that's by design; acknowledging it is part of appreciating her characterization. Those are my thoughts, anyway.
