The map is a clever addition to the series; as a literal plot device, it allows the writers to send our ponies literally anywhere with minimum of exposition. This saves a lot of screen time for the actual plot of the episode. I love how wonderfully creepy Starlight's Village is here. Hits so many of the classic dystopian tropes; creepy smiles, empty of color, uncanny synchronization, constant staring. Just really well done.

I'm glad we're finally at the best season (to my opinion) of the show. Multiple people call it the season of feels. We also finally met my favorite pony of the show.

And now, finally, things ramp up to 10. New characters! I won't get into all of them, but here's a rundown of my two favorites: Starlight Glimmer - You're right to assume that Starlight has to be pretty powerful to take somepony's cutie mark. I have a feeling you've only seen a tiny portion of how powerful she might be. But why would she want a town full of equal ponies to begin with? Sugar Belle - The pony who baked horrible muffins. Two of her lines make me laugh: "Is your friendship ending?" and "I'll take your order today. We have... muffins." She seems very pleasant. Would be nice to see more of her. I'll admit now that Starlight is one of my favorite characters, just like most of the others have said. I can't really tell you why, but she's a breath of fresh air in a way. Also of note: The mention of Mage Meadowbrook's enchanted artifacts. Just like Star Swirl the Bearded, the name Mage Meadowbrook is probably a name you'll want to remember. More later!

can't say why the mane 6 got there tails handed to them now but you will see later. also REALLY looking forward to your reaction of episode 9 lets just say the poo hits the fans or the fans hit the poo

A lot of stuff in this episode is stuff I've seen discussed in politics. There is one political party that has a lot of communists in it and it has already passed several laws forcing their will on others. I've seen schools that teach stuff like that.

When MLP became Harrison Bergeron meets 1984. You know, for kids! That song contains quite possibly the creepiest line in the entire show "You can't have a nightmare/if you never dream." And this town had best just be glad the Mane 6 found them before Derpy learned of the travesties against muffins they were committing and ENDED them.
