God I love this movie. Where to begin? Firstly, the story of Sunset Shimmer's redemption... nobody saw it coming. We figured she might show up here and there, but everyone thought this was still Twilight's story up until this came out. To have the entire movie revolve around Sunset, and her struggle to embrace friendship in the face of everyone disliking her was nothing short of amazing. On top of that, absolutely no one expected Sunset to not only get a full redemption, but to officially become a full-on member of the Mane Six (now Mane Seven) at the end of the movie. Seeing her gain the ears, tail etc of someone who has the magic of friendship within, and then seeing the little line of red join the rainbow at the end... it just felt right. At this stage we'd had 4 years of the Mane Six and we thought it'd always be just them. Sunset was hated in the first movie, even by many of the fans. She earned her spot in more ways that one, and changed many opinions on her. The Dazzlings/Sirens - Wow, oh wow. Definitely fan favorite villains, here. All named after musical terms, Adagio Dazzle is a clever antagonist who knows how to manipulate. Aria Blaze is great as the 2nd in charge who wants to be in command, and Sonata Dusk is absolutely the clueless girl who just tags along to be popular. Tons of references, you hit most of them right on the head. Back to the Future, Scott Pilgrim... I think Rarity's costume in the short was a Beatles reference. Could be wrong. Also, the song that Fluttershy wrote, and the Rainbooms eventually sung in the finale, is a direct reference to "Filli Vanilli" from Season 4 where Fluttershy is afraid to perform. The lyrics "Whoah oh oh, I've got the music in me" is inspired by the song Fluttershy sings at the end of the episode: Ponytones: "When you find you've got the music" Fluttershy: "You've got to look inside and find..." Ponytones: "Find you've got the music (repeat)" Fluttershy: "The music deep inside you...Cuz when you look inside you'll see it...you're gonna find it, gonna find...you got the music, got the music, got the music in you!"

Ha, I have to second just about everything Slorg said. Sunset became my favorite character, and that moment when the seventh stripe entered the rainbow was just beautiful. She gets some real character development here, which a lot of the other reformed villains lack so far. This made her very popular in the fandom, and there are a lot of great stories about her trying to find her way with the support of her new friends. Alas, Flash Sentry again remains largely exrtraneous to the story; and unpopular in the fandom. Many people enjoyed Trixie breaking up that romantic moment at the end. Unlike Sunset, he did not get a sudden surge of popularity. The Dazzlings are some of the best villains, and I particularly liked the back and forth with the Rainbooms in the finale. The premise of a musical battle is hard to pull off, but I think they did fantastically here. Incidentally, when Sunset joins the fight, her voice actress is singing a duet with herself as she also sings for Twilight. Nobody was expecting that teaser at the end of Human-Twilight. Thankfully, this one wears glasses so we can tell them apart (a joke in the fandom is that Pony Twilight needs glasses, but hasn't realized that how bad her vision is). They took a page from Marvel's book in setting up the next movie with an after credits scene. There are two more full movies, a few double-episode length specials, and a number of shorts for the EQG setting. The movies take place in between each season, and the rest after that. If you want to continue, we're always happy to give you more content, and you've now seen everything you need for the Star Wars/EQG fan animation I've been planning on having you watch (the Dazzlings make a brief appearance). At this point, it's full ahead on Season 5, right into the middle of the best part of the series (4-6 are my favorite seasons). The shorts consist of 5 videos showing Twilight's friend's "ponying up" as they find their musical instruments for the movie. The rest are music videos in the style of those watched here. You've already seen the best of them (specifically "My Past Is Not Today"), so watching the rest is at your own discretion. Looking forward to next week!

Even though I agree with what everyone is saying, I was never that interested in Equestria Girls. I recognize a great character when I see one, and Sunset is definitely a great character, developed very well. I nonetheless will remain a fan of a different character, one we will encounter very soon...

Sunset Shimmer is definitely one of my favorite characters: not only reformed, but fully redeemed by the power of friendship. Her arc goes beyond just "hey kids, friendship is this cool thing you should do" all the way to "having friends can be the difference between people being good or evil". To me, that's incredible for what is, at bottom, just a cartoon.

of the movies this is one of the best. at the time it was the best but IMHO there are a couple more to come that are better and more emotional see what you think in a few seasons. also sunsets songs is one of the all time best from both franchises but if I may suggest I really recommend this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vr6hxuzfc8&list=PL3A534607965AC7F8&index=12 its a literal parody of the song she does many others I do recommend listening to them if you want to react to them that is your own choice but regardless I do recommend listening to at the very least this one it will make you laugh

This movie is amazing the dazzlings carried this movie and every song was 10/10 this movie is so good and is the best by a mile in the EQG series
