It's not surprising your mind jumped immediately to Big Mac; aside from Spike, he's one of the only significant male characters in the series so far. Conversations among fans over potential relationships between characters is a rabbit hole too deep for Patreon comments (suffice it to say that every possible pairing has been considered), and this episode kicked off a lot of it.

Interesting that you wondered aloud as to why Big Mac doesn't say much. They mention he's shy later in the episode, but there's usually more to a character than first meets the eye in this series. Cheerilee is the teacher's name. Some interesting things during the song: **The "This one's too young" colt playing video games is named Button Mash. **Also interesting and kinda sad that the "This one's too old" stallion was speaking at a funeral. **The "too splashy" stallion was Doctor Whooves. ** The "strangely obsessed with tubs of jelly" pony is named Hugh Jelly. **The "nothing wrong with this one" pony who has a girlfriend is Caramel. His girlfriend is Sassaflash.

We heard Sweetie Belle sing in S01E14, the rock version of Hush Now. Big Mac talked a lot in the earlier episode ... I can't remember which one. They changed it later on for some reason. A lot of people seem to forget he used to talk.

I never caught the "Bella Note" soundalike music, but they did play the "Sorcerer's Apprentice" soundalike when the CMC were mixing the potion. . Big Mac (and also Pinkie Pie)'s hopping is reminiscent of Pepe Le Pew from Looney Tunes. . Remember-- Big Mac knocked back a whole lot of ponies in the second episode this season. It's also arguable that the potion causes the ponies affected to have extra strength (given Cheerilee busting through stuff) or at least upping their adrenaline or something. . The important thing is that neither Big Mac nor Cheerilee wanted this and the potion took that choice away. The baby talk may just be part of their personalities that were 'enhanced' by the potion. There are people who ship Big Mac and Cheerilee, so you aren't alone.

We have us a Cheerimac shipper! Going to be a wild ride seeing you're reactions to the many loves of Big Mac, he's the most paired up stallion in the show. Yes, Earth Ponies really are just that damn strong. Very important little hint in that book about there being alicorn's other then Celestia and Luna And the moral of this episode? Shippers ruin everything!
