Now that we have seen Shaw, I can explain the reason behind the storyline to you. Sarah Shahi was pregnant during the shooting of the stock market episode (You can see this in some of the shots though its hard to tell as she's wearing baggy clothes and dressed in all black....her time off screen was written in to allow her time to have the baby and spend a little time with her newborn.
