I created this for a guy on Twitter yesterday, one of those 5 minute setups I do just to demo a concept - it's often less hassle than trying to explain how to do it - but thought I'd post it here just to have it here as well. Super simple setup using the tetrahedralize- and find shortest path SOP :D

Edge transport creates an attribute like curveu but for a tree structure. Curveu only works on curves. :D

How easy would it be to get this animated? would you just animated a boolean subtraction from the original geometry first and then use your method? Would that even work?

^this And you could use some randomization per primitive (curve) to mix things up.
