Hi everybody,

Now that I have more time, I wanted to talk about several things in details to let you know where I'm going with this campaign and my games. Let's start with Glassix and some more explanations about the last update. 

Why did I work on an AI ?

From the beginning, my aim with Glassix was to create a game offering a lot of different things to do in town and not only sex related, so more of a sandbox game than a visual novel. Being an adult game, I focused heavily on sex content during the first versions and as the game gained popularity and also some more help (CarpeNoctem helping me create new girls and sex content), I switched my own work on gameplay. The AI in Glassix is intended to add more life to the city instead of having static schedules. Girls are now able to react to the player actions, such as being undressed during doll mode and running away once doll mode is off. Other fun features will also be using this AI such as the future dating feature to plan some dates with the girls and choose a meeting location at a specific time. However as you can expect, developing an AI is not that easy and there are still quite a lot of bugs still occurring right now. I'm planning to improve the AI and balance it over the next versions as I receive feedbacks from players. But you need to keep in mind the aim of such an update and remember that it's only a small part from a bigger plan. A lot of you complained because this AI changed the way the game is played but I'm afraid this is an inevitable change I had planned from the start but failed to communicate about. In the end, Glassix will be more of a sandbox game with the player being able to wander in town, go to school, work, seduce or exploit girls, buy gifts or new outfits for girls, improve his glasses, date girls and so on. Depending on the player's action, girls would react differently but there are some limitations.

Glassix limits

Being a 2D game, it means creating new scenes can be a real hassle with that many girls, even more when so much content is duplicated. All commands and daily events needs to be accessible for all girls in several outfits which means generating one new scenes takes a lot of time. Right now, the game contains more than 3000 sex images and this amount keeps increasing at a fast pace the more new events and girls are added. This means that adding new outfits will have to be limited. For the moment, I'd like each girl to have at least the following outfits : casual, work, bath towel, swimsuit, underwear and naked. That's already a lot of images to create to handle jsut those. Many of you expect even more outfits but we'll have to limit those. Either have one special outfit (let's call it slutty :p) fully playable with the commands or have several slutty outfits per girl but not useable in the wardrobe, it would just be used in unique events. I might start a poll in the future to let players choose. Another limit in Glassix is the ability to deepend each girl's path. Many of you would like the story of each girl to be more meaningful, with better text and have improved consequences or behavior depending on the player's actions, such as changing the text during sex when the girl is level 4. For this part, I'm afraid it won't be much more developed than what you already have. Even though it is technically possible to handle this, the game contains already so many different events that adding more would make it unmanageable for me in the end. I prefer to keep it simple and work on such a feature in another game (which is why I'm working on Lust Complex)

AI improvements

For v0.14, I received several important feedbacks, most related to how the girls are dealing with their pee/bath time. They're currently behaving in herds and all go to toilets at the end of class for example. Next version will add some bladder balance to have them have different bladder values to make them more or less impacted by the need to go to toilets. This should solve this herd problem with the new AI. The other problem which was already present pre v0.13 was that when several girls were doing their business in the same toilets, only the first girl of the list would trigger her toilet event. Next version will include a choice to let the player select which girl to interact with in such case. There's also a bug for girls running back naked to their room to get dressed and getting stucked once there. I'm investigating the bug but be sure it'll be solve asap. Once these points are updated and the AI stabilized, I think players will have less complaints about this feature.

Image optimizations

Due to the amount of girls and outfits, there are a lot of duplicated content and I'm planning to optimize those images to reduce the size of the game, however such a script can be tricky to implement so I'll need some time to optimize the images. There's also a problem with the width of the game images which are 1375px while the game is only 1024px wide. I'm working on a solution. I'm also planning to optimize all image which contains transparent edge and could be trimmed easily thus reducing their size. In the end, I expect the size of the game to be quite reduced making it smaller and faster to download.

Where is Glassix going ?

Besides the sex part of the game, a lot of non sex related daily events and features are planned for the game. I already detailed most of them but as a reminder, here are what you can expect (more could be added later) :

  • Money
  • Part time job
  • Grades & Exams
  • Pimping girls
  • Dating girls
  • Items, Gifts & Special Outfits
  • Karma (will determine if the player exploited girls or not, changing the available endings)
  • Suspicion (will possibly trigger gameover if the player acts too harshly and possibly special events)
  • Glasses improvements

An important point to remember is that some of those features will change once more how the game is played. For example, the glasses improvement feature will allow the player to... improve the glasses which means that some features linked to the glasses which are already in game will become locked at the start of a new game and will need to be purchased, for example the ability to switch between underwear and naked in x-ray mode or the time girls will be able to follow you with the Follow command. I'm planning to have those upgrade be purchasable from Lily with a new kind of points : Sex energy. And guess how you'll get this sex energy... So you need to be prepared to have the way the game is played changed once more like it was with the AI feature. But in the end, all those features should work well with each others and create a real sandbox feeling to Glassix where you'll be able to play the way you want and not just follow the story and trigger events linearly.

What about Lust Complex ?

I'm going to release a post about it pretty soon and will show the progress so far. Not much to show yet but this will give more information about how the game will be played and what it'll look like.

About my campaign

Due to the softwares used for Glassix, I was not able to offer interesting rewards in my campaign so far. With Lust Complex coming, this solve the problem since all the assets used for the game are purchased for proper commercial use. This means that I'll be able to add new rewards for my patrons. I still need to organize it but it should be close to what you have in other Patreon campaign for H-games. For example :

  • X$ : Access to the old versions 
  • XX$ : Custom renders of the girls of your choice
  • XX$ : Choose a new sex animation
  • XX$ : Choose a new outfit for the girls
  • XX$ : Design the next girl to appear

Using Daz3D, I have to say I'm amazed by their asset store which contains hundreds of outfits and characters with the ability to customize them more or less. I'm no 3D designer at all so I'll be quite limited in term of customization but this should make it much easier for me to deliver new content compared to Glassix. 

To end this post, I'd like to say that I'm really grateful to all of you for your feedback and patience. I know I've not been really active those past three months but I can assure you I'll be more careful now. I'll try to communicate more about the progress of each game to keep you in the loop. Just a suggestion, but given it's kind of hard downloading a complete version everytime a new version of Glassix is released, maybe it would be nice to have the option to download each new version as a "patch" rather than as a full download? Saves disc space for those with limited storage. Of course, the full version downloads shouldn't be removed, I'm just saying that this could be a convenient option for some.

I can see where you're coming from. Perhaps a patch version that only contains the updated files? That would cut down on download sizes for those of us that are concerned about it and subsequently allow for faster bug reporting.

Usually, Daedolon does his releases the week-end after the end of the month. Sometime Sunday, but more often Monday morning. So it's shouldn't be long. A update per month, that's quite fast for an indie dev. ;-)

Yes, I do release small patch zip when I can. For v0.14, I have it prepared but will upload it only tomorrow due to crappy connection.
