Something From My Heart (Patreon)

Hi guys, I dont know what’s happening but it seems this small comic series of ours is getting a sudden wave of support both in kind words and financial support. We are getting more and more money. Not gonna lie, it is starting to scare me, I am not used to receiving support of this magnitude. The last time this happened it legit resulted in me suffering a paralyzing level of impostor syndrome resulting in me going into hiatus (with a bunch of excuses, even using my own family) because I literally did not know how to respond to people calling for this weekly gag series to be something more than what it currently is. I guess I have grown too comfortable with just doing dad jokes featuring my OCs and I have driven myself into believing that if it tried to be anything more than that, it will surely end up in failure.

This time, I will not run away. Whether Working Girls is destined for failure or success, I have decided to face whatever destiny fate has in store for it. However, I am also deciding to be smart about this and not be driven by emotions. Suddenly jumping into a full blown series is a foolish gamble knowing financial support for it may suddenly just disappear.

I have coursed a series of plan of actions depending on the support it gets:

I have decided the gradual transformation of Working Girls Weekly depending on the support its getting At 450 USD and 1000 USD.

If we reach 450 USD/month, I will dedicate more time and create a seperate and dedicated, Supporter Only, Monthly Mini Shorts. similar to the original stories Im making now. It’s going to be a bunch of 4-panels with original stories focused on establishing characters and the plot of the series. I am hoping this will give this comic a new dimension at the same time something entertaining for fans as they see their favorite characters develop.

The Weekly comics will stay free for Public (after a month for Patreon and Kofi Supporters) as that has been our bread and butter in attracting new followers and supporters. This goes on until we reach the second target monthly goal of 1000 USD/month.

at 1000 USD/month we proceed to our longer term goal of a 30-40 pager One Shot Story of Working Girls to be completed in the course of 3 to four months. This will replace the Mini Shorts as I believe at this point the goal of developing the characters and main plot has already been long established.

If by then, support of it endures, then we shall move on to the goal of completing a Volume 1  to be divided into 10-15 pages a month. I am thinking between 170 to 200 pages for Volume 1. And then Volume 2 and so forth.

I will not lie that I find all of these very intimidating as someone who’s entire income  depends on illustrating manga, I do not want to be the fool who decided to quit taking in commissions and do his own manga only for it to end up in total failure.

I will also not lie that I have fears that we may never even get past 300 USD. If that one dude decides that this whole show has run its course and stops his 100USD/month pledge then it’s over. Hahaha. I am not lying, that one dude‘s 100USD/month pledge alone is offsetting the bunch of $1 pledge refunders Im getting every day. Yes, we got peeps who pledges $1, reads everything, cancels and then refunds their pledge same day. It’s crazy.

But one thing I can be certain: I will match every penny you give with the  maximum effort it deserves. I am a hard worker. I maybe a slow learner, but I‘m a persistent learner. Even now at 200 USD, I am dedicating time aside from doing comms to write Working Girls Monthly Short Stories for future use. I‘m having tons of fun fleshing out your favorite characters into something more than vessels for repurposed, weekly internet dad jokes.

One thing is for sure: it will be fun seeing Working Girls grow as support for it grows because you guys, the people who believed in me, deserves the best.
