Taking a pause for inventory (Patreon)
Content
I have been taking a little pause from videos to re-organize and do an inventory of my collection. I was starting to lose track of which item came from whom, when and for how much, and with quite a few patrons and viewers making donations, I also need to quickly be able check for duplicates, particularly when it comes to manuals.
So I got pictures, acquisition info, confirmed identification and condition status for the bulk of my items. I inventoried 512 of them. As you can see the great majority is HP, but I have diversified quite a bit and was surprised to see how many non-HP items I had.
Granted, many of these are really small things, and the number is highly inflated because I strive to acquire most of the accessories for each main item, including options, plug-ins, cables, manuals, etc... So one major item like an HP 1000 computer might drag in many boards and disks and paper tapes for example, and the cost of the accessories (and time, energy and fun to find them!) often exceeds that of the original item. I only counted the main accessories, but still. On the plus side, I found and remembered almost everyone of them, so organization skills and memory are still functioning OK.
I also inventoried most of the manuals, and the count is equally honorable at 372.
And of course while I was doing that I read quite a few of the manuals, cleaned and tested a few items that I had not gotten to yet, researched some that had not been positively identified, fixed a few, and in general learned a lot about my collection.
In the meantime the boxes have accumulated upstairs as you can see from the picture. Yell if you recognize your box! But I restrained myself from opening them up until I had finished the arduous inventory job first.
But now it's done. Time for an unboxing fiesta!
