As you have probably noticed in the news, this week a strong earthquake in Turkey and Syria brought many people to misfortune, lost belongings and far too many even their own lives.

For me as a human being, this is heartbreaking, even though I don't live in Turkey or Syria, or even know the languages. As some of you know, I just lost my father in December, so I can just empathize very strongly with the people who have now lost loved ones to this disaster.

I also have friends here in Germany whose family live near the epicenter of the quake and I am in strong contact with most of them. Therefore, I know firsthand how the situation is there, because in addition to the destruction there are freezing temperatures.

So together, whether German, Turkish, Ukrainian, Russian or from anywhere else, we tackled together today and bought several truckloads and loaded 3 Sprinter vehicles that are now already on their way to Turkey to help the people on the ground, without bureaucracy or gray zones where everything disappears.

But for me as a private citizen that was not enough and so today I donated part of my earnings from January.

Why am I writing this? Is it for my recognition, praise or publicity?

No, for me it is about an appeal.

Friends, if you have the possibility, look once whether you can help the people in Turkey or Syria also somehow. No matter whether it is useful donations in kind or if a financial cushion is available, a little money to a good aid organization at home.

I was very happy today to see so many people, regardless of nationality, together for a good cause to tackle. Even if sometimes there was a language barrier, we understood each other well and I sincerely hope that more people will follow this example.

Together we can achieve a lot.

Thank you,
Jim / Amaz2k12
