Ok, let me explain.

What I'm asking is, do you ever put yourself in the role of the speaker? Sympathize more with them than the listener?

The reason I ask is I think there are some interesting script concepts wherein the listener (the actual person listening, not the character the speaker is talking to) might find inspiration or courage from what Cardlin is doing. The specific example I have in mind is Cardlin breaking up with his abusive partner; standing up for himself, finally doing what he knows he should have done a long time ago. I think there are a lot of people who might find that inspiring, you know?

The thing is, I wouldn't want the listener to feel bad, like they're the abusive partner. I guess that's unavoidable, though.

I know we have plenty of "Cardlin the best friend encourages you to break up with your partner" or even "Cardlin is the abusive partner, apologizing and breaking up with you", but iunno, I think there might be something in the idea of Cardlin doing the one breaking up.

What do you think?

i normally don’t comment, but i really like one of the other suggestions in the comments - where the listener might be listening through the phone, i personally would really enjoy an audio like that!

I like that concept.
