That's exactly what I thought. K has a potential to be main/leader so in their business point, they could think of making a separate group centering K. It's like how Bang PD started his vision of creating BTS with RM.

If you read the rest of the thing on google about Jungwon being the leader, you’d have known that the reason why Heeseung didn’t want to be the leader was because he is the oldest member. In Korea, the oldest has the most authority and younger members would’ve felt less comfortable disagreeing with the eldest which would’ve wrecked their teamwork (it would’ve basically created unnecessary tension). As for the 7 member thing, I remember hearing from one of the producers somewhere that 7 is a perfect number for a group for formations because you can have someone in the centre and an even number of people on either side, I guess odd numbers are just really great for dance formations visually.

Re-watching this ep I jus remembered txts schedule at the time and this was filmed super late at night and txt filmed a stage before going there so they didnt have time to eat at all, and soobin had to film an mc thing right after. Which could explain why they didnt react as much during the performances/when the results were announced😭

For the choice of leaders its mostly up to the members but hybe encourages that the oldest not be the leader. They do this for the oldests mental health down the line, plus it could cause problems in the future. This way when the leader is struggling the oldest is able to offer some guidance and keep everyone in check mentally.
