Would it be possible to mechanize part of this? The squaring off and cutting process perhaps: this would be a fascinating video of thought and design process on how to more effectively turn this into a mechanized process. Chain is very uniform (with twists) so can be drawn through, indexing on every other link.

That are good protectors for tyers on your truck. The chan used in quarys for such is a Cr and V alloy steel yours but should work for normal use.
