Thanks, I spent probably 4 or 5 hours and 2 lengths of glass before I was able to pull a capillary tube of acceptable quality.

Cody, man, wow. I knew you were gonna do a sprengel pump eventually. I saw that interest in vacuums, and I saw your mercury horde, and I just knew it was in your mind. Now I normally hate to be one of those safety-nuts, and I know you almost certainly already know this, but mercury at low pressure vaporizes readily, and mercury vapor; understanding it might not be as bad as some mercury salts, still scares me. I love that you did it though. I've wanted to see one since the first time I read about it decades ago. That's a historic apparatus you've built there. That thing helped to create a whole new field of high-vacuum science. That thing is what gave us the economically-feasible incandescent lightbulb. Plus, it looks incredible.
