Is this the third video?

Michael P Andersen

That is so cool! Quite a lot of work for a small bead, but its the principle of it that counts!

Very impressive

Absolutely amazing video Cody! For those who are arguing over the correct spelling over at YouTube, may I leave this here? Preferring Aluminium means preferring the proposed spelling of an anonymous contributor to the spelling chosen by Sir Humphry Davy himself: Davy settled on aluminum by the time he published his 1812 book Chemical Philosophy: "This substance appears to contain a peculiar metal, but as yet Aluminum has not been obtained in a perfectly free state, though alloys of it with other metalline substances have been procured sufficiently distinct to indicate the probable nature of alumina."[88] But the same year, an anonymous contributor to the Quarterly Review, a British political-literary journal, in a review of Davy's book, objected to aluminum and proposed the name aluminium, "for so we shall take the liberty of writing the word, in preference to aluminum, which has a less classical sound." Also, if you know Latin, Aluminum is better because the -um is the nominative case of a neutral noun (like a metal would be), whereas -ium is reminiscent of the genitive case of a plural noun of the third declination. Just sayin'..

Nice, complete process outlined there - very cool!

Amazing and interesting as always, but how do you know the beads are not from the aluminum in the cryolite?

CodysLab

Oh they most certainly are primary from the cryolite in fact I'd say only about 5% of the metal was from what I processed.
