At 5:06 you say there's no gas in the tube. I'm guessing you meant to say liquid?

Anonymous

Freaking cool. I want to try

Anonymous

*cringe* thats a lot of pressure! I can't believe its holding

CodysLab

You'll notice I also had trouble saying "cardboard box" do you think I should add captions?

CodysLab

Yeah I was surprised too! If I remember right it is over 1000psi! I've left it out in the garage in a box of sand in case it decides to pop.

Anonymous

You might be able to use that as a cloud chamber to detect radiation.

Wow this is so amazing, I'm remembering Ben Krasnow (Applied Science Channel) make liquid co2 with a *considerably* more compex apparatus! Just goes to show there's more than one way to solve a problem...

That was awesome! Not sure what those tubes cost, but dropping one full of liquid CO2 might be a really cool (and dangerous) slow mo video!

You're a gutsy dude Cody. FYI plastic tubes don't hold up nearly as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OBgtWFYGLQ

CodysLab

Be sure to get heavy walled borosilicate; soda lime glass does not do very well.

CodysLab

Oh yeah I almost forgot you did that! I guess plastic just cant handle the pressure. :)

Manawyrm

Very cool!

Brian Ullmark

Can you calculate the pressure within the tube?

Michael P Andersen

This is one of the coolest things I have seen. I would buy a tube of that. I would play with it for hours...

That made my day! Thanks, Cody!

Great job Cody! Definitely would love to see a video shot with your super slow mo camera of the CO2 condensing, or sloshing around.. anyway, really cool idea!

Michael P Andersen

That's an awesome idea. Cody can you do a video where you hold it next to your radioactive sample box?

That is so freaking awesome! Glad to see great content coming out of my home state. Just found your channel tonight, and can't stop watching! Thanks for the great vidjeos!

supercritical co2 is supposed to be very good with gas turbine's any chance you might do something with that?

Cody, is it possible to dissolve Hydrogen and O2 into this CO2?
