Dunno if I'd call this depressing so much as karmic justice. Queen Bushfire stabbed her own son in the back to hold onto her power, now she's suffering the consequences of that. As a further light, her son will likely be motivated to avenge her so yeah, not entirely a worthless demise.

I dunno. If he stayed he would be dead like the rest. Sending him away was the best way to save him. She was mean but she did have a point. He went against powers he knew nothing about and nearly died there. A hard lesson to be taught to a young king.
