The very old guard may remember the coloured version of that cover image being one of the first things I ever uploaded to DeviantArt, back in 2003. It was actually done earlier than that, but when I first got on the site, I uploaded a lot of older stuff to have something there.

Anyway, most of the Crossovers Plus comics were kind of like Nuzlockes, except that instead of Pokemon, I was illustrating and forming a story around the games of Inquisitor me and my friends had in 2001.

What's Inquisitor you ask? Well, it's a tabletop role playing game released by Games Workshop in 2000 that used 54mm metal miniatures to play out the adventures of rival bands of Inquisitors in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Or, in the case of me and my friends, using mostly hand-sculpted characters from the animes we liked to play out stupid shit. A lot of us had actual 40K models, and it was technically set in the correct setting but... well... you'll see.

This era of my life was definitely my most cringe and weeaboo, so know that going in. Also, some era-specific or anime terms that have been lost to time:

Dodgy - Promiscuous

Tarak - Male

Clippy - You had to be there

These games were way after my time. Mine were 1960s Avalon Hill Panzer Blitz, Kursk, Battle of the Bulge. None of which I could ever win playing my next door neighbor unless rolling a 1/2 combination beats a double six! He would take a depleted rifle company and defeat my armor panzer division by rolling superb numbers to mine. I never won any game against him….he was a good friend nonetheless. I’ve seen those miniatures…very cool!!😎

Sounds like your neighbour had some weighted dice. But yeah, my friend's dad played games like that, and they were a big influence on what came later. ^__^
