We just posted a new release that addresses a few bugs and adds/improves some content to existing chapters, including:

  • A short additional TF scene  in Marion's Chapter 3
  • New choice pathing in Effie's scene in Marion's Chapter 2
  • A new hair color for Alana (for mythos reasons!)
  • New Navigation Map icons
  • And more!

For a full list of updates, check out the full changelog, attached.  If you've already played through Marion's Chapter 3, it's probably not worth re-playing through this patch.  If you haven't, though, I definitely recommend downloading this newer build!  Grab it here

As a reminder, we have an ongoing Feedback Survey that we invite everyone to fill out once you've played the game!  Even if you've filled it out before, feel free to do so again if you have any new input.  We love hearing what you have to say.  Speaking of input, we also have the New Poll up for whose chapter we do after Jessie's Chapter 3.  Grace is currently well ahead, so if you want to see another character pull ahead, be sure to get your vote in!

One more thing to share-- we thought you all might get a kick out of the small banner ads we made.  Click the cow!  Do it now!

I like the new hair color. Its odd how much a persons hair color can .... color... opinions about them. I like her better this way.

Ya know, I’m wondering if the font changed? It’s kind of a bit harder to read now; the words do look nice when I lean in close but at a comfortable distance it kind of looks like it’s floating.

LittleNapoleon

Weird! The dialogue text hasn't been changed at all. This patch, we did change some of the name colors (particularly Marion's & Malcolm's) and increased the contrast of the drop shadow-- do you think that might be the source of the problem?

Lethe

The shadow is the problem. I just played an old version of the demo, and now downloaded the early access and it's much harder to read.

Raxynus

Yes it must be the drop shadow. I’d also say possibly the lettering is darker for Malcom, which makes the experience harder to read with the drop shadow. It’s not broken, but more difficult. I found myself trying to see if I could lighten or darken the words or change the font.

Lethe

I turned off the shadow for now, it was making my eyes hurt.

Also, pretty sure this is not intended: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/at20vrs6hxp4qdo/Desktop%202019.04.19%20-%2020.07.15.02.mp4?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/at20vrs6hxp4qdo/Desktop%202019.04.19%20-%2020.07.15.02.mp4?dl=0</a>

Aha! It turns out when we made the Android version, we made a compatibility correction from the old version of Ren'Py when Changeling Tale was first started, to the current version, and in doing so it activated a line of code that was previously nonfunctional, creating that drop shadow! We just rolled out a new patch to fix it, 0.5.32, and everything should be legible again. Sorry about that! Thank you both for bringing it to our attention!

LittleNapoleon

Haha, no, definitely not, although it would be cool if Alana could levitate the bagpipes :P Thanks a ton for spotting these errors-- they both stemmed from some corrections we made that had unintended consequences! We just released a patch to fix them, so everything should be legible and affected by gravity again.
