Abooout time for an update, well yesterday I finished the rendering of the new short story project, several days later than planned, but after a decent first half of the month last week heat got serious and working became a slug... and the current weather forecast is ominous so it's going to get even worse... with things like this I feel forced to keep on with my July hiatus tradition... as previous hiatus you don't need to do anything on your side, July pledges won't be processed, and they will resume back in August...
About the news, if you have kept an eye I did an update for once in Deviantart, a giantess big scene that was done after updating Vue to the latest version, which came with a nice feature that should let me to do mega scenes usually real topography and satellite images with little effort and great quality... Beside that the new version updated the displacement materials, so I spend some time testing the new features too:
I've made the textures look better ( unlike the new Halo ones ( what a let down!) ) I've found why I had some problems working with them and they also render faster now, so there will be more of these in the future. I've also bought a bunch of new plants for vue, that ones needed little testing, but I spent some time seeing what I had bought.
After that I got to work on the The challenge basket short story, I needed a baskeball court, so I used both the new plants and the new texture settings for it, I had some problems, but the scene was not that complex... after that, adding the new characters and fixing their textures needed some more of time... and yes, I know, it's a bit stereotypical, though the story itself would be different from my usual stuff... he would start pretty big and arrogant... but she is going for the shrinking! The story also needed a lot of pose files because of all of the movement and action, but as I said the rendering is done, and I expect to send it this week.
* this one is a textures test, I changed some things after it..
And finally, about the next chapter of the Rise of the Queen, I started yesterday with it, but the updated vue messed a bit with the old file and some of textures got broken, I didn't notice it until the first batch was done:
The faulty texture can be seen in the upper left, and there were more... I have fixed them so now I will have to render this batch again to have them fine for August... oh, before that I also updated a bit Helena's skin textures... they look way better now without weird shines, but the highlights didn't work this time as fine as in the cult project...
And that would be all for now, expect updates this week, and I will send the welcoming package to the new patrons tomorrow!
Update 1: today I played with the new terrain tool, just some hours messing around... pity that the room got heated and I did not go further, this render took half an hour...
the textures look nice, a bit dull since there is no bump, normal or displacement mapping.. and the physical sea doesn't fit well with te sea textures in some places... though I think it look good enough... someone dares to guess the place? it's easy...
