So it begins.... Sewer Tiles! (Patreon)
Content
Hi Guys!
So, for the past few days I've been finishing up planning, and working on some test pieces for the sewer build, mainly to make sure everything was going to work the way I'd planned 😂
Short answer - Yes! Mostly, but I fixed the rest so far :)
As you can see, part of this build includes some VERY deep sewer flows - don't panic! We're not filling those with resin 😉 - you can see in the final image the tile type the resin will be going in, only a thin layer, 1/4 to 1/2" thick (haven't quite decided) that will be quite deep enough considering the water is going to be FILTHY!
The deep sections are an optional extra, a set of 'empty flows' so your sewers can be full or abandoned as you wish...or even both in different areas :) It can also be used next to the walkway above if you prefer that look to the more dark fantasy, angular feel I went with up there..
The whole set is modular, and can make use of a lot of previous builds to A) save time, B) allow us to customise to a much greater level and C) build some EPIC looking massive fantasy sewers - much of which you can't yet see 😂
What you can see are the empty/full flows, which match the size of the road tiles of the streets above, and are separate from the walkways, which align with the pavements of the road above! The giant pillar you see is the underside of the sewer openings in the pavements of the city tiles, the idea being the water will flow down, out over that modular wooden platform, and into the filthy water...
Speaking of city tiles, I have plans for a manhole tile, but that may or may not happen this video depending on time, it may be a future patreon bonus video to make up the gap :)
On to the walkways! These will be completely modular, usable in dungeons and can be built using existing wall tiles to allow for easy magnetisation of accessories, and more importantly, save us a LOT of time painting stone walls...because we already did 😄
The sloped section with column is a modular clip on, and can have wall tiles stacked on the back, but also removed for visibility. the columns break into 2 parts, each removable separately for visibility and for opening space for future wall accessories to add some cultural markers/accessories to sewers so ancient yuan ti sewers look at least a little different to modern human ones...(more on that some time down the road!)
And this is just the start. the sewer flows can be widened, much like the water tiles or road tiles, and can be used to make wide open cisterns of filth, complete with massive templeblock columns, or vast wide flows that pour down multiple levels in height of the same build - there's so much you can do! I'm so buzzed about this build 😁
And this has all been done with rough D&D esque rules in mind, so the thinner sewer flows can be leapt over by someone with high strength, but not someone with lower strength, the empty flows are too deep and slippery to climb out of without a check, and so on. even the new 1.5x3" floor tiles (aside from being great for dungeon corridors) will be nickel strip magnetised, allowing 50mm large creatures to stand on them, poking over the edge, but totally secure!
So yeah...I've been busy 😂
More soon! Let me know what you think!
