Hi Guys,
The video is currently uploading, which will take a few hours, so in the meantime here's a final teaser of the kind of dungeon builds blocks like these make possible/easier!
I love the new magnetisation, it means you can comfortably place stairblock columns in places you otherwise probably wouldn't, because they'd be too wobbly! Adding the wires etc gives a solid hold to the underside of these, and lets you do some awesome 'catacomb-y' feeling builds....
It also means you have a lot more freedom with wall mounted accessories and accessory placement, as well as a few new places you can put floor mounted accessories very securely :)
The blocks are just that perfect size to mix and match with landscape tiles too, the dirt tiles in this case, but this could have been grass for an overgrown look or small lava pits for yet more obstacles - there's a ton of options!
I think what I love most is the tactical choices in combat that layouts like this make possible, there's line-of-sight blocking terrain everywhere, but there's also high ground, jumps between high areas are possible, but only for higher strength characters (or with an athletics check, depending on how you run it...I like to encourage strength to not be a dump stat for rogues etc!)
The single high stairblocks on corners provide easy half cover or more, and give minor difficult terrain/obstacles that need checks to clear smoothly - it all adds up to a more deeply engaging combat experience that ( I think) you would struggle to do on a VTT, battlemat or drawn grid, let alone TOTM!
Probably my favourite build so far for sheer tactical depth, but what do you guys think? 😁
Video should be out either tonight or at worst early tomorrow, I've had some testing to do for the new STLs and some chats with Fabio about textures for the final pieces we're adding to this month - I want them to be perfect for you guys!
I'm thinking of adding the doors release in as a throwback this month too, I've been holding off for a month or two just to give us a backlog so it isn't the same throwbacks every month but I think we're just about there now :)
Catch you all soon - I've got more upload work to do :) it's annoyingly admin heavy with the complexity of my videos 😂
