Update - Finishing up the Painting, Soundproofing improvements... (Patreon)
Content
Hi Guys!
Quick update here, as you can see I'm one overnight drying wash away from finishing the pieces for this video (and a few repaints on those exterior walls on the right to match the rest - it's currently my only up to date door!)
On the right you can see me pointing to one of the new things I've played with in this video, using nickel strips instead of magnets in pillars, which works spectacularly. Unless you use your columns together as a 1" freestanding column, there's little reason anymore to use magnets in columns - a connection like this works perfectly fine for their basic function.
You can also see I've sealed it on solidly with hot glue, there's some advice on this in the video, which also holds true for magnets...
Also having tested out foam putty (woodland scenics) so far it certainly seems to be a great solution for hiding magnets, if nothing else...I'm yet to try it on full foam connection like stacked 1" foam for mountainblocks, but it certainly seems plausible if applied after texturing.
In other news, I picked up some soundproof curtains to try and curtain my ongoing 'living on a main road' issue for recording - I've yet to see the impact on recording, I'll be testing that in this video :)
