Bonus Video - Magnetised Balsa Wood Tiles! (Patreon)
Content
Hi guys!
As promised here is the bonus video showing how to upgrade (just trim the foam with a hot wire) or make from scratch some upgraded balsa wood tiles, with magnetic functionality under the floorboards and planks on the walls to allow both magnetics wall accessories (like the upgraded stone walls) as well as the upgraded interior wall system (coming soon...)
There is a template for the floor pattern I intend to upload with this, it's absolutely not crucial, you can see it clearly in several points in the video and precision with it isn't important, but I'll get that uploaded here as soon as I get a chance!
Dimensions:
Floor tile foam
- 2 and 7/8"x 2 and 7/8" square, 7/16" thick
Floor tile balsa top
- 4" wide balsa wood strip, cut to just over 3" long then trimmed to fit
- Longer edge side balsa strips - 3" long, two 1/4" wide strips, two 3/16" wide strips
- shorter edge side balsa strips - 2 and 7/8" long, two 1/4" wide strips, two 3/16" wide strips
Wall tile foam
- 2"x3", 1/4" thick for the complex version, 3/8" thick for the simple version
Wall tile simple balsa (planks) - per side
- One 3" wide, x1 and 3/4" long balsa strip, applied vertically, and one 1/4" wide balsa strip at the bottom.
Wall tile simple balsa alternative pattern (thick logs) - per side
- One 2" wide, 3" long balsa strip, applied horizontally
Wall tile complex balsa (like the cottage tiles) - per side
- One 3" wide, x 2" long balsa strip, applied vertically
- One 3" long, 3/8" wide balsa strip
- Three 2" long, 3/8" wide balsa strips, cut to fit
- Four 2" long, 1/8" wide balsa trips, cut to fit
Let me know if you think I've forgotten something! :)
EDIT: Updated the video to include the new method from the stone tiles/interior walls video :)
