8th of 8 posts for June:  I've been purging past episodes.  I detail them in batches of 10 and am eliminating an accumulated 8hours of bs, plugs, smashing like buttons, juno coffee and annoying crap.  I can't believe anyone watched some of those older ones!  I also found out youtube put mid-roll ads in the middle of all my past videos when they rolled out that new "feature".  I didn't even run ads for the first two years because they are so annoying.  Those are all gone too.  I've also delisted over 60 episodes that were not ever green.  This is all the foundation for the new multi-year project I'll officially announce before the end of the year.

TODAY'S VIDEO: This was fun.  I can't believe I am still surprised by the results I get.  Fun fact: Back in 2011, I never heard of anyone else using tiblocs as simul protection and used them to speed climb things I really should not have been simul climbing.  This episode was quite reassuring it was super good enough if you don't consider the actual risk of simuling.  Having a micro traxion between me and a follower once did save me from getting pulled off and getting very very injured.

It's NOT what you think

Sign up for our newsletter at https://www.hownot2.com/sign-up A tibloc is a lightweight tooth device used for emergencies, mechanical advantage and sometimes as a way to protect the leader during a simul climb if the 2nd falls. We tested it to see if it shred ropes faster than an ascender or micro traxion and it did not. We tested to see if the plates would break if you clipped it wrong and the device itself is crazy strong at 30kn but if it isn't in the carabiner and you clip it like the warning infographic from petzl, it shreds your rope, in our case at 6kn on a dynamic rope, not because the teeth but from the sharp edge. Honestly I never mind the “YouTuber” cliches stuff like the smash the like button, juno coffee, etc. I think as viewers we accept those parts as a necessary evil to see the content we want. It never made me click off the video or anything.

My original videos were 0 plugs, all value... although horribly filmed and I was not confident in front of the camera. When I started to break stuff is when I tried to make it sustainable which isn't bad, but I sure don't need to do it for 2 minutes in an 8 minute video. It's nice that viewers accept the necessary evil so many youtubers do.
