Shorts, AI, Dummy, Deletions (Patreon)

3rd of 8 Posts for June: Here's some shorts and updates on the non-sexy stuff behind the scenes.  I like posting 8 full videos a month if possible but I think it's worth the investment of energy to make the more full value, in depth videos.  They take 20-40 hours to edit instead of 4, but are way better for the viewer.

AI: I wish chat gpt could write my blogs, but they suck when I try.  BUT it is helpful when I'm researching material science or how some gear is tested to standards.  I hope there is an off the shelf solution to let web visitors interact with a website as naturally as you can with chat gpt but I may try to get someone to make an API for HowNOT2 that you would be able to ask it very specific questions like I get in my emails daily and it is able to give you an answer.  This will become increasingly more helpful as we answer more and more questions and do more and more tests.

Dummy: I want to test harnesses, but not carabiner to carabiner.  I told my arborist friend months ago that I wished to have a what you see in the image above and he hit me up a few days ago and said... "Like this?"  I was stoked.  I may put pants on it and name it for fun.  I think I'll attach a few 10lb weights to the bottom of each of its legs to make it about 150lbs. Right now it is 80lbs which is perfect for having to move it around.  

Deletions: I selected 66 episodes that are currently public that are not evergreen (timeless) and not directly helpful with breaking gear fear.  I want to unlist them which will make them watchable only with a link.  If they are monday updates and if people want to see what we have done in the past, I might put that on some about page on the website but I want every video to have some value today if they go binge, even though some are more niche than others.  If I remove those, I will have removed a total of 112 episodes since I started.  That is an insane amount of videos to think about.  What's crazy is there will still be over 400 live episodes.  I'm also going through each of the previous ones and removing Juno plugs, long extremegear plugs, the minute-long fancy ending showing the website and making sure youtube didn't automatically put a bunch of midroll ads on past videos without my consent.  In summary: polishing up the library!
