Patrons: This is the 8th of 8 posts for April.  Usually, videos sit in the queue for months, sometimes years.  I've expedited this.  If all goes well, I'll expedite this weekend's project for wednesday.  It's fun releasing stuff while it's fresh.

Thank you Matthew Otto https://www.instagram.com/matthew_a_otto/ for the sailing trick.  It's amazing that a 2-3 meter piece of dyneema can make 1-3km long projects WAY easier.  I hope this helps all 10 people in the world this applies to! We are rigging the 2km zip line on the day I post this, wish us luck!

You are splicing the long into the short but leaving a little tail of the short hanging. Try making the tail of the short 2 meters long and splice it into the long. This way each end pulls the Chinese Finger Trap tight on the other.

the goal would be to use the chinese finger trap "feature" of dyneema to help hold tension on a system to use as a progress capture and enable splicing an eye on one end while the majority is under tension.

There is a good chance when this concept is scaled up there would be tension on both but the clutch can't be tensioned if its acting like a soft good "ascender". Once it has a good grab, it should be super tight and then work.
