You asked, we finally did it.  Bobby Hutton, Michael Rogers @wolf_in_the_weeds, and I unbox and do human testing by rappelling and seeing if it works (spoiler: it does) and how many times you have to pull it to get it to release.  THEN we slow pull test it in our HowNOT2 Lab and it broke at 22.7kn which is impressive, not only for a rope product with a MBS of 18kn but the fact it didn’t slip.  Thank you Doug Robinson for helping us with an entertaining Intro!

Having used releasable hitches like the fiddlestick, we often put a prusik from the anchor onto the line for the first few folks (sometimes as many as 8) down the rappel to confirm the system. This gave the advantage that the last person, who would then remove the prusik, had a pretty good idea that the anchor was not going anywhere. This device, being more for multipitch, rather than canyoneering (canyoning?), might only see one other climber. But after watching this, I cannot help but think that I would put a longtail bowline into the Escaper, and tie a figure 8 off to the bolts with no weight on it (colloquially called a jumper, do y'all call it that?). Just a thought...

I think if i used this in real life a loose jumper until the last person came down would make me feel better.
